Valentino steamrolled over the following onslaught of shouts and screams like the spoiler-providing pro that he was.
His ease was not mirrored by the rest of the room with the exception of Side B, who honestly heard worse from Cale over breakfast. Side A was also mostly calm since you can only get shocked so often till your heart simply decided it had enough. A few loudmouthed and energized individuals made sure the surprise would be proclaimed loud enough for even the gods to throw them some incredulous looks, although more because they needed to react and not because they were honestly surprised.
Honestly, mortals.
It was understandable since the combined words Valentino uttered so carelessly were a terrifying image to have. Dead Mana Golems. Each word was an issue already, combined it sounded like something Adin would use.
However, knowing how much the gods cared, the perplexed individuals caught themselves enough to sit down with heavy frowns.
The screen merrily continued.
It was at that moment.
Beeeeeep- Beeeeeeep-
He heard the sound of a flute coming from on top of the castle wall.
The wall of fire around the castle prevented the enemies from attacking, however, it also locked the Maple Castle's forces inside the castle. The flute made shrill noises. The more tender of hearing covered their abused ears with their hands, a glowering frown on some of their faces.
Lock weathered through, not minding the tingle in his ears nor the look of concern Rosalyn threw him. With ringing ears that could fall off for all he cared at the moment, Lock focused all of his attention on the screen.
Dead mana golems. How the fuck can they deal with those? Blow them up from a safe distance?
So far, the eerie flute was the scariest part of this whole battle. What would it summon? Was it a sign? Some hidden plan? A callback?
His thoughts were racing and his heart was beating even faster. Lock wanted to learn, to know more, and gain more. A beastly sense of need, gnawing and snarling from the inside – wanting to break free – became more and more apparent. He didn't know whether it was his desire or the wolf in him wanting to rise up.
Clutching his chest, feeling the pounding, strong beating, Lock smiled.
Screeeech-
It was the white bird that had disappeared above Rosalyn and Raon's black clouds. That white skeleton bird had returned.
Rosalyn was quite proud of her work. A jokingly haughty eyebrow raise was directed at Glenn, who was minding his own business a few tables over. Almost choking on his tea, he coughingly leaned over, getting a better view of Rosalyn practically challenging him to a fight.
Not wanting to be left behind, Glenn gripped Bud's shoulder, startling the poor swordmaster. Bud had been daydreaming while watching the battle and naturally didn't expect an attack from his protected side.
The culprit just gripped his shoulder in a determined steel grip.
"Once we are finished here, you will accompany me to train," Glenn said while not giving Bud any chance to object, much less share his opinion.
"Glenn?" Bud asked, worriedly.
"I have been challenged."
Bud swore there was a fire burning in Glenn's eyes. He was too scared to ask. Nodding along, he wondered who challenged Glenn and when it happened.
