The atmosphere in the room was heavy enough to be sliced with a butter knife.
As much as the spectators from Side A wanted to grab Cale and shake him, demanding that he spit out the details, they held themselves back. Choi Han was eying them with far too much calmness, while even Clopeh took a more threatening pose.
Eyes the color of poison gleamed in an unholy light.
Gulping nervously, some spectators decided to ask another time.
Unlike the silent but heavy room they were in, the battlefield on the screen was also heavy. With fire and a marching army.
Boom- boom- boom-
The ground began to rumble again with the sound of the drums.
"C, crazy bastards!"
The Vice-Captain unintentionally started to swear.
"Vice-Captain-nim! It's the Whipper Kingdom's soldiers!"
"Damn it! I can't believe the soldiers are coming out too. Are they planning to have an all-out battle right now?"
"...It looks like only the mages are planning to remain in the castle! All the soldiers are coming out!"
The voices of the knights, alchemists, and mages all jumbled together. However, everyone's eyes were fixed onto the battlefield.
Behind the Bears came tens of thousands of armed soldiers with stiff expressions on their faces.
The bears were already ferocious enough, yet seeing the properly armored and out for blood Whipper soldiers coming from behind, Toonka was floored by the picture the other world painted.
He long since accepted that his previous approach was too radical. His gaze was never directed at the future; instead, he basked in the here and now. Why should he care how many survived if he still had a battle to look forward to in three days?
Harol's back looked tiny compared to his, Toonka realized. He was small and easy to squish, yet his determination burned brighter than whatever Toonka could muster up on a good day.
It wasn't the first time after entering this room that Toonka wished to change. His heart already wavered under the might he witnessed the other world utilize, but somehow he didn't realize how it started beating anxiously again.
Beat after beat, the desire to do more - to do better - filled his chest.
Maybe it was too late for him. But it was worth a try anyway.
It was an incredibly small number compared to the Empire's army, but it was still tens of thousands of soldiers. Most importantly...
"Crazy bastards......!"
They were a group of crazy people.
They were the ones that had laughed and ran amok in the pit of hellfire.
The soldiers were running forward with nothing but their bodies and their weapons.
Cale found the description the soldier used to be quite fitting.
Even standing on the same side as Toonka and his band of hooligans, Cale was scared of them. Not for but of. They advanced without worry. Thoughts about death and consequences were optional at best.
They were true warriors, always focusing on the battle and never on the strategy. Others would do that for them. Commanding them was interesting, Cale decided. He would prefer to keep them a country length away, but thinking about all the lunatics he met on his journey, he had to admit they weren't the worst.
