We don't waste any time. There are much larger enemies in this world right now and we have already wasted precious days with this inconvenience.

Rayla didn't want me looking too suspicious. She fears that I would lose my position. I kindly reminded my friend that I'm committed to freeing Runaan, even if it meant losing my title. My only worry is Soren's involvement... thus he won't be involved. Truthfully I spent about 10 minutes looking for him. Skies if I knew where he scampered off to. I was going to tell him the plan, but I got distracted by Ezran and Aanya. I'm not sure why I was a part of that hallway discussion but it was quite a serious one. They're devising major plans to build up our defences.

Honestly I only just remembered that Soren doesn't know our plan as I'm running quickly down these dungeon stairs.

Two bodies lay unconscious on the floor. Cedric and Beth. Great. "They're alive," Rayla assures me, sensing how much I like the pair.

"My daughters," Runaan chuckles. Stella is sitting on his shoulder, working quickly with the bindings. "What are you risking," he then questions with a darker gaze. Rayla gives him a hand to his feet and Runaan stares between us before doing anything else. I don't miss how his gaze lingers on me - joint Captain of the Crownguard.

"Nothing of greater importance to you and your freedom," I make clear.

Now Runaan pulls us close into a hug. "We need to keep going," Rayla says, wriggling slightly when it lasts too long. "There is a rowboat awaiting us."

I nod, understanding the urgency. "I'll keep watch," I tell them, about to start by tracing my steps back up the stairs.

Runaan's hand catches my wrist. "You won't come home?" He wonders quietly.

I hesitate for a moment. "Back to the Silvergrove...?"

"Exactly," he nods, a toothy smile stretching across his face. "Skies, if Ethari knew that you were alive..." Runaan's hand rises to my cheek. "He is going to be so happy."

Is going to be. Not 'would be'. "I need to talk to Soren," I make very clear. The statement earns me a light scoff.

"(Y/n) I thought you were going to talk to him already?" Rayla counteracts, visibly restless.

"I got carried away with the King's plan to go to Duren to get bombs!" I retort, slightly annoyed with both of their impatience.

Both sets of eyes that are on me darken, swirling with confusion. "What?"

"Exactly!" I reply with a raised finger. "I'll go find him now," I digress. "You two be safe."

"(Y/n)-" Runaan chastises.

I smile casually, letting Rayla reassure him with a confident expression. "I'll see you guys soon," I promise.

Now I simply need to find Soren.

My search begins in the most obvious place. the kitchens. That man is always hungry. Although when I ask Barius for his whereabouts, the baker tells me that Soren hasn't been in yet. Weird. Next I go to the room that Soren and I are staying in. It is on the uppermost level - Soren's choice, as he loves to run up the stairs. Although all that confronts me is thrown together bed sheets and an open window, the breeze coming in with a soft whistle. I go over to glance outside the window. The view is of the forest out back, and I'm not surprised that Soren isn't randomly there. I go down the hall to where Corvus is staying. Perhaps they're having a chat in his room... which would only be slightly odd. Yet only Corvus answers the door when I knock; a towel around his waist.

"Soren is not here, (Y/n)," he tells me with narrowed eyes.

I peer over his shoulder, feeling mischievous. "Are you sure?" I question. "Soren does love a good shower-"
