This flight is painfully long.
Soren and I have both officially awoken from our naps. We stopped for a while in order for Zubeia to rest. We didn't want her to be too strained from the journey over before we even made it there. Lazuli continues to carry Soren and I in the crook of her back whilst Terry rides Squeaky at our side.
"That old pirate would say that red skies at night are a sailor's delight," Soren comments, reminiscing on the sunset that was bright before we left.
"You think his yapping is correct?" I inquire. Soren starts to say something but it is interrupted by the great swoop of Pyrrah's wings. The red dragon steals my attention. It is only in this moment that I realise how large she is compared to Lazuli and Squeaky, but still quite small when Zubeia herself flies nearer again. Corvus calls out in our direction as he joins us. Unfortunately I don't hear a word he says due to the night wind drowning out the words. His arms wave frantically which indicates to me some sort of emergency. Although, there is a mighty storm that has picked up and it would be futile to converse now.
"We'll get the story soon," Soren comments casually before turning forward again. "As I was saying; did I think that his yapping was correct then? No," Soren says. We both know where the events on Finnegrin's ship led. "And right now? Still don't think so."
We both chuff as we continue towards the darkening skies. "Wait," I pause turning to look Soren in the eyes. "Isn't Villads blind?" My husband is completely stumped. His mouth opens and closes in contemplation. "How does he even see the sky's colours?" I let out a breathy laugh.
"That is an extremely good point," Soren voices. His words trail off as he looks back at Corvus. Lazuli glides closer to Pyrrah as if sensing our curiosity. Soren taps her side in thanks. "EVERYTHING ALL RIGHT?" I get no warning before he screams and I flinch forward in avoidance of the pain in my ear drums. "Sorry," Soren mumbles, his hands on my body reassuringly.
"No!" Corvus says, not assuring us of anything. "King Ezran sent me as back up - because his brother was right! Aaravos is going after the Sun orb!" He relays. The red dragon chortles in confirmation and Zubeia hones in her focus on the man as they fly side by side. We always thought that we were heading towards our friends, not war.
"Is Ezran alright?!" I yell back.
"Fighting the army of the dead!" Corvus informs us. Those damned creatures from the in-between. So Ezran is okay right now, but how long will they be able to fend off those monsters? I remember seeing how many fled from the mountain, clearly heading towards their new target. "We almost at Lux Aurea?!" He wonders.
"Yes, Sir!" Soren yells then shifts back to a comfortably facing position on Lazuli. "What time of day do you think it is?" He asks me. "The sky is kind of lighter..."
I look around us. The only sign of the half moon is far away behind us, so night must be passing quickly. "When the sun rises we will know if its morning," I tell him plainly and confidently.
I should not have been so confident. Because whilst I was stupid enough to be waiting for the light, I didn't even contemplate us being much too late. The truth is, the sun does rise, but it is not the fiery star that we know it to be. No.
The sun is covered by darkness.
The process of this did not occur all at once. It's as if the universe gave us the hope of a bright day. Then all at once it took that future away, cursing us with a shadowy sphere of doom. The flight of our dragons became faster after that. A part of me wishes it didn't.
As we come nearer to Lux Aurea, my view on the situaton ahead gets better. Or should I say, becomes much worse. The already broken city is consumed by a sort of hurricane. I don't comprehend the wind tunnel, or how it was created, but sparks fly around it in a deathly might. The atmosphere around the scene is a deep purple, as if it is made up of Aaravos' magic.
