Possibly one of the craziest aspects of this situation, is how Lazuli and Squeaky have managed to find each other. Even more so that they have become such good companions... if we can call these two dragons that. I watch the way they greet each other with head bumps and lovely nuzzling. Soren declared it first. Two of our favourite dragons might be seeing each other.

Soren and I wait in the woods beyond the Banther lodge. Lazuli and Squeaky are here with us, alongside Terry's little birds.

"How long do you think he will be gone?" Soren questions, referring to Terry. That Elf seemed to have a plan, albeit quite a thrown together one.

"I don't know," I admit. Over and over I theorise how this situation will play out. "What if Ezran locks him up?" I voice the concern aloud.

"Then we officially begin parenthood," Soren chimes happily. We are currently on babysitting duty with these multicoloured chicks. "Aaron and Sam," he contemplates, leaning in closer and causing the baby birds to twitch away. "I think I could get used to it," Soren says.

"Let's think about kids when the world is a safer place," I suggest. The sight of Soren with small, young creatures does make me extremely pleased. On many occasions now we have discussed the future of our family. Children will definitely be a part of it.

"Cheers to that," Soren chides. Then he sighs regretfully. "I miss Hat." I hum my agreement, but know that Soren's bond to the little baitling is more than my own. "They're just so cute!" His voice raises multiple pitches as he delicately pats Sam's feathered head. A twig snaps. I take my eyes away for a moment to assess the woods. "(Y/n) can you believe-"

"Wait," I shush. Terry appears strolling down the walkway. He's back already. Is that a good sign? Or does that mean he's been turned away. We make eye contact and I quirk a brow, remaining ducked behind a bush just in case. Terry waves off my worries, pointing to the moist soul at his feet.

"What's he doing?" Soren wonders in a whisper.

"Providing for his babies," I say lightly, glancing at the little birds. Then I watch Terry as he uncovers the dirt, retrieving a handful of worms. Unfortunately, the action is short-lived.

"Stop right there!" Corvus jumps down from a tree branch, his hand raised and pointing at Terry. "What are those for?" He demands accusingly. "Dark magic?!"

"Oh shit," I utter. My brain whirls, contemplating between jumping up and helping or staying hidden behind the cover of leaves.

"No, no," Terry stutters, turning and standing slowly. "They're for..." his worlds trail off when we make eye contact once more over his shoulder.

"Speak up!" Corvus orders. He can easily pear over Terry yet the bush conceals us. "Otherwise I will suspect treasonous behaviour. And perhaps kill you!" Soren audibly gasps.

"Okay, Corvus, settle down," I stand with my hands raised. Since the baby birds are in Soren's arms, it seemed like the right thing to do.

"(Y/n)!" Corvus looks pointedly to me. "I knew I heard dragons!" To be honest, I'm unsure as to where Lazuli and Squeaky have wandered off to, so I don't know what he is referring to. Soren rises steadily at my side. "Soren?!? Where have you two been!?" He shouts. I'm glad that there is a slight worry for friends in his tone. Yet those eyes remain piercing.

"That's not the point," I wave him off. We will talk later. "The point is that Terry has genuine intentions," I motion for Soren to bring the birds above the bush.

Terry nods his head eagerly when they're on showcase. The small animals chirp excitedly for him. "See, those are who the worms are for," Terry reasons earnestly.
