- Epilogue: A Wedding -

9 months have passed

I never thought that I would be happy with idea of time passing slowly. I never even believed that time was able to pass gently, allowing us all the ability to cherish happy moments.

Yet here we are.

Here I am. Happy. Grateful. Deeply in love. Constantly surrounded by those I want to be with. There is no other place I wish to be.

With the help of all races and the dragons, Ezran's castle plan for Evrkynd is coming along beautifully. Every day I enjoy watching the creatures flying through the open air. They bring supplies and fire-breath to the castle that continues to climb towards the sky. I know that it will obviously not touch the stars, but it is a wonderful image to have the tallest points reaching upwards. 

Whilst Ezran and Callum remained in Banther lodge, Soren and I actually moved into the Silvergrove. I'm pleased to say that Hat came with us. Rayla spends equal time in both, depending on her plans. It's nice to see her so often. Yet I can't tell if I'm happier when she returns to us, or when her face is lit with a brilliant smile as she departs to go see her boyfriend. Young love; I am all too familiar.

Lazuli and Squeaky are our reliable source of transportation to and from the boarder. Runaan and Ethari have equally grown accustomed to the dragons. Although I don't think my two fathers could love the pair as much as the children do.

Days are spent training and relaxing. Building and resting. Exploring and flying. When I used to picture the perfect world, this was not what I saw. Simply because I wasn't able to imagine a future this incredible. It helps that I always have one thing that I'm looking forward to. The a celebration that Rayla continued to beg me for a date. So, after speaking to Soren, we set one.

Today is that date.

My - friends and family official - wedding day.

For the past five months Soren and I have been calling each other Wifey and Hubby, yet the ceremony was not truly complete. We didn't have the rings - or all of the people we love to witness. Even now, I'm getting ready for the late afternoon ceremony and thinking of those we have lost. Rayla - my obvious choice for maid of honour - is quiet as she braids my hair. Soren and I chose a beautiful open glade for the celebration, bringing in an array of logs and chairs for people. No one can hear Rayla and I from our section of the woods, although I can hear my friends already. It's almost time. "Do you think my parents know that I made it?" I question, my voice a whisper.

Rayla's hands stop working for a moment. She reaches down to the small pile of silver heartbloom flowers, collecting one to weave into my hair. "I know that they do," Rayla says earnestly. She leans around my head and I meet her gaze. "And I hope you do, too, (Y/n). Because they're here." She puts her hand over my heart and the beat quickens at the sentiment. "You'll see them all tonight," Rayla adds with a small smile, her eyes flicking up to the coloured sky above.

"Thank you," I mumble, twisting back around to let her finish the look. My wedding day attire is simple, but much nicer than anything else I have ever worn. When Soren and I were initially discussing our plans - such as it remaining a small event and pretty setting - we contemplated wearing our Crownguard armour. It is what we wore whilst falling in love, and what we continued to wear as Captains. In many ways, it seemed fitting, and I was content. Yet Soren wanted to see me in a gown, and thus I wanted him in dress robes. I have not gone full gown, but the floor length dress I wear pools delicately near my ankles. Its off the shoulder neckline allows for a perfect framing of something I borrowed.

My fingers come up to hold the small stone. "All done," Rayla says, patting me on the shoulder. She stands to her full height behind me and I copy the action, turning to face her. My hand drops to my side.
