P for Pizza
"Kimi!"
"Yeah?"
"Prosciutto or Funghi?" I shouted, awaiting the answer from upstairs.
It took a while but I grinned when I heard the answer I was expecting:
"Both!"
"All right," I mumbled while placing the ingredients on the pizza dough. I had rolled it out into a cute heart and filled it with Kimi's favourites.
We were celebrating.
Kimi had just signed the contract with Mercedes that officially made him a full-time F1 driver.
He didn't know it yet, but I had cooked his favourite food and dessert and bought him a new watch.
I hoped he would like it.
As soon as I put the pizza in the oven and set the timer, I rushed into my bedroom, grabbed the watch and ran to where he was gaming.
I immediately placed the box on the table and sat on his lap. He chuckled and turned off the game.
"What are you doing?" he asked, curious about the grin on my face.
I smiled at him, placed my hands on his cheeks and leaned in for a sweet kiss. He smiled as he closed his eyes, melting into me.
When I pulled back, I marvelled at him, secretly grabbing the box from his desk.
"Close your eyes," I bade him and he followed my orders.
Kimi's expression was excited, amused and a little mischievous.
He didn't know what I was planning, which was unusual for him. Normally, he'd see right through my attempts to keep something from him.
In the year before we had done Secret Santa, and before I had even delivered my first gift, he knew it was me.
So, when the rather heavy box was set into his unsuspecting hands, a light frown formed on his face. I smiled to myself, excited to see his reaction.
It had taken months for the watch to arrive and I kept getting more and more nervous. What if it didn't get there on time?
But now it was here. In his hands, waiting to be revealed.
Kimi didn't dare move so I had to urge him: "Come on! Open it already!"
He laughed: "All right, all right."
His hands carefully manoeuvred the white box with a green ribbon, pulling it off with ease. I had put the Rolex box in a white one, so he wouldn't immediately recognize what it was.
But as soon as he got it out, his movements froze and his eyes widened.
"Y/n..." he was shocked.
I slowly moved off his lap and onto a stool next to him. He placed the box on his table and continued to open it, speechless.
"What is this?" he finally managed, not yet opening the lid, which would reveal the watch.
His eyes met mine, and the pull towards him felt stronger than anything I had experienced.
I shrugged: "As a congratulations."
Kimi huffed a small laugh at my words, and I felt the need to explain more.
"Kimi," I grabbed his hands, "These past few years have been tough. You fought your way through highs and lows, victories and losses. It wasn't easy seeing you hurt the way you did. And I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried about you. But now, after getting up and fighting back, you finally achieved your biggest dream. Being a Formula 1 driver."
Kimi watched my eyes closely as I spoke.
"You proved to every single person on this planet that you are worthy of a seat. That you're one of the top twenty drivers in the world."
Tears began welling up in his eyes, but he remained quiet.
"I'm the luckiest girl in the world to be able to accompany you on your journey. To be by your side as you make your dreams come true. And I want you to know that I will always be here. To fight for you, to win with you and to lose with you. I love you, Kimi, and I can't think of a world without you."
He grabbed me without warning, crashing his lips against mine. I couldn't think properly, my words echoing in the room, his heart pounding, mine accelerating as well.
After a moment, he released his grasp and looked into my eyes. Tears were flowing down his cheeks. I gently wiped them away, pressing kisses on the area instead. He chuckled at my actions.
Kimi looked into my eyes and shook his head: "There is no way I deserve a girl like you."
I smiled: "I think you do."
He laughed, pecking my lips again. Then he turned to face the unopened box, lifting the lid. His eyes widened at the sight of the watch, disbelief taking over.
I felt happy watching him smile. My heart was happy as he put on the watch and observed it working.
The love we share will accompany us through everything the future might hold.
However difficult it might be.
