Dear Diary...
...Bom Dia! I took Y/n to Rio!
Let me tell you, there is nothing more amazing than taking someone who's never been to Christ the Redeemer atop the Corcovado.
They always underestimate the statue's size and end up looking at it in wonder. And seeing Y/n smile that way is absolutely mesmerising.
We took the day off for ourselves and decided to walk around the touristy parts of Rio de Janeiro, ignoring the fact that we could be stopped any second.
The most important part was showing Y/n around Copacabana, taking her to places she'd never seen before.
She loves travelling. And I love that about her. I love her.
Of course, I haven't told her yet because we've only been dating for a few months.
But I do. I really do, and I wanted to tell her today.
So, I took her to see the statue, we went to the beach, and now, finally, as the sun has set and we lie in our hammock, watching the stars and relaxing, I feel it's the right time.
"Today was beautiful, Gabriel, thank you," she said, kissed my cheek, and wrapped her arms around me.
I squeezed her tightly against me: "Of course, I think so, too, Y/n."
We watched the night sky, and I felt myself feel more and more at peace in the situation I was in.
Y/n has that calming effect; she can easily ground me after a frustrating day or bring me back into a peaceful state when I'm stressed.
I've come to notice that this is incredibly important and useful during race weekends. And not once has she missed out on a race.
Y/n is currently studying at university, so she brings her material with her and watches the lectures online.
She also cheers from the garage, jumping around with the mechanics whenever I have a good result.
And any time I crash, without fail, she's waiting for me in my driver's room, ready to comfort me and to give me the pep talk I need.
For that, she usually sits down next to me and hugs me tightly, kissing my cheek or caressing my hair. It's enough to calm me down and to make me see that everything is going to be all right.
"Y/n?" I said, while my fingertips slowly moved up and down on her exposed arm.
"Yeah?" she whispered back her head lying neatly on my chest.
I hesitated for a while, not because I was unsure of what I had to say, but because I wanted it to be timed perfectly, and to make sure that her answer was what I hoped it would be.
"I love you," I said, just like that, without any additions.
But Y/n didn't miss a beat: "I love you too, Gabriel. With all my heart."
And I could have jumped with glee.
This was the best night of my life, and tomorrow we will get to do it all again.
For now, I'm going to take a much-needed nap in my hammock with Y/n next to me.
Até a próxima!
