U for Under the Sea

His wet hair glistened in the warm sunlight. Summer had rolled right back after a ten-hour flight to Spain.

I watched from the sunbed as he swam back to the yacht, his muscles flexing as he grabbed onto the railing at the stern of the yacht to pull himself up onto the main deck.

I couldn't help but smile behind the covers of my book. Carlos made his way towards the sunbed next to me, where his towel was.

"Have a good swim?" I asked, not looking up at him. Carlos was drying his hair off and then moved to his arms and chest before sitting on the sunbed, facing me.

"The water is perfect," he said, "fresh but not cold. Just perfect."

I smiled and finally turned my head to look at Carlos. He was smiling at me, and it only grew when our eyes met.

"Hi," I said, putting my book down.

"Hello," he grinned, making me laugh.

After the days we spent at the beach, I had gotten a perfect, golden tan. Carlos and I had decided to go on holiday alone- away from friends, family, and the public.

It was difficult at first- with the fans and paparazzi everywhere even a moment of silence was practically impossible.

But after renting a yacht for a week, in which we could anchor it in more remote spots, the silence was all we had.

The only other people on the yacht were the staff. And they enjoyed the fact that we gave them lots of freedom.

They usually spent their day on the bridge deck, enjoying the sunlight and a card game. In the evenings they enjoyed cooking- sometimes even with me and Carlos- and it wasn't uncommon for us all to eat together.

Carlos and I enjoyed the company of the few strangers who quickly turned into good friends. Everybody respected each other's privacy and this was exactly what we needed.

"What are you reading?" he asked, lying on his back and leaning his head on his arms.

I shut my book to show him the cover: "The Iliad."

"Ooh, Greek mythology!" he was excited and turned to grab my book.

"Careful!" I laughed as he examined the book. Carlos was amazed by the book because of its colour. It was a penguin classics edition, which means the book was clothbound in a deep red, with orange flames all over it.

I had gotten it while in London when Carlos was racing in Silverstone.

Carlos ran a hand through his wet hair and pretended he would drip salty water all over my book.

"No!" I laughed, getting up and onto his sunbed to try and get my book back. His arm immediately went up with the book, out of my reach.

"Carlos, careful," I looked up at my book as he only had eyes for me. I got onto my knees to be taller than Carlos, who was sitting and tried to grab my book.

He was quick with it: The book landed safely on my sunbed and his arms wrapped around my waist. His cold skin met with my warm one. I had spent the morning sunbathing in a bikini, so the cold made me flinch.

I laughed as he grabbed me onto his lap, making sure all the cold areas of his skin touched me.

I shivered, trying to get Carlos off me: "Carlos, you're cold!"

"I know," he grinned, tightening his hug. I continued trying to get out of the hug but quickly realised he was too strong.

"Giving up already?" he grinned, and I nodded: "You're too strong."

Carlos smiled, lowering his arms and leaning back. I didn't hesitate to take my chance and made a run for it.

I got off his lap and quickly went to the stern and jumped off the swim platform into the fresh ocean water before Carlos could catch me.

He jumped in after me and followed me as I swam away from him. Although I had swum a lot as a teenager, he was quick to catch up.

Out of nowhere I felt his grip on my ankle and held my breath right before he pulled me under and back towards him.

My heart was pounding in excitement as I swam back to the surface. I immediately met with Carlos' grinning face, which made me laugh.

"Strong, but slow," I chuckled. Carlos' eyes widened in disbelief. He had literally just caught up with me.

And he was a Formula 1 driver.

"Really?!" he laughed, and I nodded, using my chance to push his shoulders down, getting him underwater.

While he got back up I swam towards the yacht. He followed me and even reached it before me.

"I'm not the slow one here, Y/n," he grinned. I laughed, swimming up to him. He was holding onto the railing and patiently watched as I swam towards him.

My heart was pounding, but I kept my cool. Carlos' was, too.

I reached up to wrap my arms and legs around him. Our faces were inches away and I felt his arm wrap around me.

I found myself staring into his chocolate brown eyes, ocean water dripping down his face. He smirked at me, causing me to blush.

My eyes lit up and he pulled me into him for a sweet and salty kiss. Carlos pressed into me, making me sigh.

"Hi," I whispered.

"Hello," he answered with a smile.
