N for Nap
"Agh, I can't take it anymore!" he exclaimed, throwing his headphones off and shutting down the simulator.
I heard his angry footsteps as he left the gaming room and ascended the stairs. I was lying in bed with a book in my hand.
It was the day before our flight to Australia for Christmas and New Year's, so we were trying to relax as much as possible before the long journey from London.
I had cooked lunch for the two of us and after a long walk around the park in Hertfordshire, we retreated to the warm indoors.
Oscar was driving on the simulator and was getting stressed because he just couldn't top his track record. I had tried getting him out of it, but he was determined to beat it.
So, when he was met with disappointment, he got mad. I was used to it by now, the angry expressions after losing a race, the cheeky smiles when he won.
But now, he had chosen his second tactic after getting angry at the simulator: Finding me and latching onto me, never to let go.
I had already made some space on the bed when he appeared on the threshold. I put my book to the side and opened my arms.
Oscar smiled slightly and practically jumped onto the bed, snuggling under the covers and wrapping his arms around my waist.
We silently lay in bed, our breaths synchronizing as he calmed down. I caressed his head, gently massaging his scalp, earning a soft groan from Oscar.
I kissed his forehead: "You okay, Bub?"
He nodded, keeping his eyes closed. I grinned, pressing another kiss onto his forehead and tightening our hug.
"It's okay to not win the race, you know?" I tested the waters, gently caressing Oscar's cheek.
He frowned: "But it's no fun, and I've been trying for weeks, Y/n."
He looked disappointed, and I didn't want him to feel that way.
"I know, but good things take time, and you know that, right?" I said, pressing yet another kiss on his forehead.
Oscar smiled: "I love you."
I grinned at him, leaning forward to kiss him softly.
"I love you, too," I answered, "don't worry about the racing. You'll get it. I know you will."
Oscar smiled and leaned forward to kiss me again. I sank into his touch, letting out a quiet moan.
He continued kissing me as his hand wandered to my neck, gently squeezing. We made out for a while before pulling back.
"Let's take a nap," Oscar said decidedly, making me chuckle: "All right, Bub."
He grinned and I closed my eyes, falling asleep in his arms.
