R for Road Trip

Light rain pattered against the car windows. The jungle widened around us, the light sun rays beginning to appear between the trunks.

Logan and I had escaped to the depths of the Amazon rainforest after the nerve-racking F1 season that had been 2024.

With his early removal from Williams, he was completely thrown off-track and confused. I felt bad for him but wanted him to chase his dreams.

Since F1 had been his dream, he now had to find out what he wanted to do with his talents. Someone out there would appreciate them, I knew it.

But for now, it was peace and quiet that he longed for.

So we went exploring.

Logan had always wanted to find out about corners of the world he had never experienced before. So, I offered to show him my home country.

Brazil.

The most colourful, rich and culturally beautiful country I had ever known. For me, the drive through the forest roads felt like home.

To Logan, it felt like driving through a rainforest on the planet Pandora, from Avatar.

Everything was new, nothing was familiar and nothing was anything he had ever seen before.

"Why didn't you bring me here earlier, Y/n?" Logan asked, marvelling at 100-foot trees, spanning miles all around.

I chuckled: "Oh, don't you try and get all innocent on this one. I tried convincing you, multiple times."

"And I will forever be in your debt. This place is amazing," he grinned at me and I blushed.

To have Logan was already a gift, but to have him compliment my home was beyond great.

As we approached a crossing, I looked down at my map: "Just keep going straight here. It won't be long before we reach the farm."

My family had a farm in the north of Brazil and had invited me and Logan to stay for a couple of weeks to relax and recharge.

He had agreed almost instantly when I asked if he wanted to go. Anything to take my mind off racing, he said.

The drive was calm, just what we needed. Logan noticed me watching him and offered one of his hands.

I gently grabbed it, intertwining our fingers. He smiled at me.

I felt joy take over my heart and pressed a kiss against his knuckles.

"I love you," I whispered.

Logan smiled at me: "I love you, too."

As the drive continued, we stayed silent.

We knew that whatever may come our way would never be strong enough to defeat our love for one another.

And that together we'd beat whomever wanted to bring us down.

Together we'd chase our dreams.

And that's the third for tonight!

Enjoy Christmas day, my darlings, and I'll be back soon!
