HARRY'S INJURY GOT BETTER AS DAYS WENT ON, though his mind had been on what Dumbledore had told him, about Horcruxes, he thought about Dumbledore's promise to take him along, should he find another. Harry knew he needed to tell Alora, but he wasn't sure how he could talk to her again.
"Wow," Ron breathed when Harry had finished telling him everything; Ron was waving his wand very vaguely in the direction of the ceiling without paying the slightest bit of attention to what he was doing. "Wow. You're actually going to go with Dumbledore. . .and try and destroy. . .wow."
"Ron, you're making it snow," Hermione said patiently, grabbing ahold of Ron's arm, the moment she saw Lavender's glare from another table, she gently let go.
"Oh yeah," Ron looked around at the snow in a small surprise, he brushed some fake snow off Hermione's shoulder. "Sorry. . .looks like we've all got horrible dandruff now. . ."
Lavender burst into tears. Ron guiltily looked away from her.
"We split up," he told Harry out of the corner of his mouth. "Last night, she saw me coming out of the dormitory with Hermione. Obviously, she couldn't see you, and Alora wasn't there—so she thought it had just been the two of us."
"Ah," Harry nodded. "Well—you don't mind it's over, do you?"
"No," Ron admitted. "It was pretty bad while she was yelling, but at least I didn't have to finish it."
"Where's Alora?" Harry asked abruptly. It was likely for Alora to not want to talk to Harry, but she wouldn't have avoided Hermione. The usual would have Alora not speak to him while Harry sent glances to her from the other side of the classroom, but he hadn't seen her in a while, he assumed things were starting to get better between them.
Hermione cleared her throat and lowered her voice, "She's with Aria, last time I heard—I'm pretty sure McGonagall has allowed her permission to take a few lessons off, whether it's for herself or to help Aria, she's not feeling great at the moment, understandably. . .oh, I feel horrible for Aria."
Harry and Ron both nodded sadly, Aria hadn't been seen around school for months, Alora was the only person she wanted to speak to.
"Flitwick," Ron spoke with a little fear in his tone as the Professor wandered over. Hermione was the only one who had managed to turn vinegar into wine, whereas Harry and Ron's was still a murky brown.
"Now, now, boys," Professor Flitwick squeaked patiently. "A little less talk, a little more action. . .let me see you try. . ."
Together, both Harry and Ron raised their wands and aimed them at the glasses. Harry's vinegar turned to ice whilst Ron's flash exploded.
"Yes. . .for homework. . ." Professor Flitwick's voice trailed off as he pulled shards of glass from his hat, "practice."
As the day went on, both Ron and Hermione seemed awfully cheery about his breakup from Lavender, Harry, too, spent the day worrying about how he was going to tell Alora about everything. But, he didn't have to, as he sat in the sunny common room, the portrait hole opened and both Alora and Katie Bell walked through, Alora and Katie both laughed, though Harry took notice that Alora's smile faded when she saw him.
Though Harry's mind and Alora's reason were awfully different.
The moment Alora turned her head and saw Harry, she felt her heartbeat rise. She had been spending every moment since the Quidditch match trying to figure out how to speak with him. Alora still yearned for Harry's love, she was anxious that he no longer did too, for she was the reason they broke up.
