•operation saving sugarplum, pt 1.•

THE PENTHOUSE HAD become a base of sorts in the mission that they collectively dubbed Operation Saving Sugarplum. Armed with the information from the Spiral Labyrinth and Madam Maeverie they work themselves to the bone to make a plan.

To everyone's surprise two new allies arrive to join their cause: Aline Penhallow, the Consul's daughter, and her new girlfriend Helen Blackthorn. The last one is especially surprising since she is half Fae herself.

"I have come here to offer my aid in the rescue of your Mundane friend. I was born in Faerie and still know how to navigate the lands. I can get you to the Unseelie lands undetected. That is, if you would have me."

Helen bows her head in reverance. Izzy knows she must still feel guilty for her part in Victor Aldertree's plans.

"We would be glad to have you, Helen. And you too, of course, Aline," Clary responds, her gaze wandering away from the stack of old parchment in her hands. Each one of them was investigating a different aspect of saving Blythe.

Because not only did they need to find her, they had to have a plan to free her as well. Magnus and Alec had reviewed the Accords over and over again, mulling over every clause or exception they could find. If her mother truly made an agreement with the Unseelie Court, getting Blythe free without causing war might be a little more difficult than they first imagined.

Then there were Clary, Simon and Lorenzo, who were working on deciphering the prophecy further and gathering theories on why the Unseelies want the Book of the White by using all the knowledge they have of the book.

Meanwhile Izzy, Jace and Catarina work on ways to infiltrate the Unseelie lands alongside Helen and Aline. She points them in the direction of a Faerie entrance that is not commonly used. The other side of the entrance was in the middle of nowhere and therefore not a desired destination.

Magnus prepares satchels and backpacks for them with food and water while Jace and Alec take care of the necessary weaponry. Swiftly they gather everything they need and head towards a small, rather secluded gated park.

Helen stands by the shore of the pond, her eyes trained on each small wave of the water. Slowly but surely each wave becomes larger. The water starts to shift in circles rather than waves. A hole appears right in the middle. There was no bottom of the hole, just a blinding and shimmering light.

"Now, we jump," Helen announces. She explains she will go last, in case the portal closes for some reason. One by one they jump through the portal and land in Faerie.

Clary groans when her body hits the leafy ground face first. She wipes the dirt from her face and crawls up. The redhead looks around to ensure the others that have gone through are there as well.

Magnus and Alec stand close to one another and check their bags, in case that anything went missing during their travel through the portal. Jace helps Izzy stand up after landing right after Clary.

Within a few minutes everyone has come through, including everything they brought.

Helen looks up at the sky. Clary follows her gaze, but she couldn't really see what the half-faerie is seeing. To her it is just a blue, cloudless sky, but apparently Helen knows exactly which way to go.

She leads them through a vast meadow with nothing but long, green grass and flowing hills that seemingly stretch out endlessly. They have been walking for quite a while when they hear the faint sound of a horn blowing through the sky.

Clouds start to appear in the distance. While the clouds draw nearer, the sounds grow louder and the wind becomes stronger. They have difficulty keeping themselves upright when the wind clouds move above their heads.
