43. DEAR DIARY 1/2

"Oh this is cute." Stefan mumbles grinning up at you from what you thought was a book. You had just entered the library of the Boarding House, dragging your feet against the floor.
You were beyond exhausted because you slept in way too long, which only made you even sleepier. It's been months since you actually got any sleep, you missed your bed so much after being trapped in the Prison World.

"What's cute?" you yawn, walking around the couch he was lounging on and hovered over him. At first it took you a while to realize what he was reading but, then you noticed the familiar handwriting; your hand writing.

"Stefan!"  you shout, trying to pry your diary from his hands.

"What?!" he laughs, as he turns on his side and hides your diary close to his chest. You leaned over the couch towards him, playing pinching him so that he'd give it back.
"Give it to me." you mutter, pinching him as he swarmed. Stefan stops swarming and glares up at you smirking, "Give what to you?" and you roll your eyes.

"Fine. If that's how you want to play." you smile warningly, as you stand up. Stefan sits up, "What are you gonna do?" he questions, but you smirked at him and then used your vamp speed to get into his bedroom.
You used your speed to get around Stefan's room once, searching for on of his diaries. You hadn't notice Stefan leaning against the door frame, nonchalantly. He figured you wouldn't find any of his diaries, because he concealed them; but you did.

Scattered right across his desk underneath a pile of papers. As you lifted his diary from his dark brown wooden desk Stefan began to look a little queasy. He forgot that he left that diary out, the one he has been previously writing in. "Erm, don't read that." he mumbles, trying to take his diary from your reach.
You pull away, flipping the cream colored pages to his diary.

"1996, nope nothing interesting," you joke teasingly, but Stefan looked anything but amused.

"Y/N, seriously don't read that." Stefan sighs, but once again you pulled away. He was acting so strange, as if he had something to hide. "But you read my diary, probably three times." you remind, and apart of him finds it fair that you read his but he still refused.

You continued to flip the pages, finding nothing remotely interesting. You glare up at Stefan and his eyes never meet yours.

You assumed he was being unfair, not wanting you to see his diary. You could hear his heart beating at a tremendous rate, as you flipped pages. Erm you thought, with a grin.

As you continue to flip the pages, Stefan began to glare at the floor. Once you were approaching the end of his diary, his heart raced like the speed of light. You had never seen him so nervous, whatever was written on the last few pages of his diary was important.
Apart of you wanted to stop, you knew how bad he wanted you to stop. But you wanted to know what was making him so nervous, if he killed anybody that he regretted?

Your eyes scan the pages as you read aloud, "July 12th, 2011, I have made a lot of  mistakes which resulted to having a lot of regrets; ones that I have managed to fix and ones I haven't. Every regret I've ever made could never amount to the one most recently; one that probably will haunt me for all century. What I have done I can not forgive myself, I have hurt the one person that I love dearly in my life..."

You pause, "You wrote that a month ago." but Stefan just stares at you blankly.

"What kind of century haunting regret did you make?" you glare down at his diary then at him. Stefan glares up at the ceiling as if trying to hold himself together, he couldn't even look you directly in the eyes.

You began flipping the pages, "July 20th, 2014. My friend who I will not mention has become better over the corse of these last few days. Compelling her was not the right then to do, but it needed to be done...... July 31th.... All this guilt is eating away at me, I don't know how to keep it under wrap. She doesn't remember but I did and I thought by compelling her to forget him, would fix things between us. "

You closed his diary slowly, not understanding what you had just read. "Stefan, whoever you've hurt I can help you." you insist, reaching out and placing your hand against his cheek.
He stares directly at you, with sympathy. "How can you help yourself?" he whispers. You frown slightly, "Help myself?" you restate, trying to understand what he was saying. "How can you help yourself forgive me for something you hardly remember me doing?"

And it clicks, Stefan compelled you. He is in love with you.
