It was still the off-season, and Ollie was bored out of his mind. He had already relaxed as much as he could, but he's a racer. He needed something to do or he was going to lose his marbles. What a better thing to do than to pick up a new hobby?

That's when you came in, asking if he wanted to drop you off at the park for open skate.

"What's that?" He asked, already grabbing his keys and throwing on a jacket.

"The rink is open to anyone who wants to get some skating in, so my mates and I are meeting up to get some reps in before practice actually starts," You explained, double-checking your bag and making sure you have a couple of snacks. You looked over your shoulder at Ollie, and he had his eyebrows furrowed in thought. "Ice rink, Ollie. We're ice skating."

"Oh," He muttered before straightening up, "I knew that."

"Did you?" You questioned skeptically with a smile.

"Yeah, only a dummy wouldn't know you were talking about ice skating," He shrugged.

"Have you ever been?" You asked, slinging your bag over your shoulder.

"Plenty of times," He lied. He's never been ice skating. He didn't even know you ice skated as regularly as you were making it seem, but he didn't want to be that dummy, as he himself so kindly worded it, who didn't know.

"Do you want to join us?" You lit up, never knowing this side of Ollie, but wanting to share your love of ice skating with your boyfriend.

"I don't have a pair of skates, and it's been a while since I've been," He tried to defer, but the look in your eyes made him reconsider. "Do they have rentals?"

"They do!" You cheered, running over to wrap your arms around him. "This is going to be so much fun! You'll get to gossip with us about all the amateurs who claim they know how to skate. There's so many, we call it amateur hour at this point rather than open skate."

Oh shit. What has he done?

Pulling into the car park made it feel real. It wasn't some park with a pond frozen over. No, it was a fully professional ice rink. He hesitated for a second longer while you jumped out and grabbed your bag from the boot. You spotted your friend's car and ran over to greet them, while Ollie slowly walked up to you guys.

"And Ollie apparently knows how to skate," You told them as he walked up. You immediately looped your arm with his to pull him into the conversation as your whole group started walking inside. You each showed your passes at the door, with you adding that Ollie would use one of your guest passes. You took Ollie to check out his rentals while your friends went to their lockers to start getting their gear on.

"Hey!" The guy at the counter - Milo, as his name tag read - cheered once you and Ollie walked up. "You have your own customs, why are you picking up some from me?"

"My boyfriend does not, so he needs your sharpest blades, my friend," You chuckled, bumping into Ollie's shoulder as he smiled sheepishly.

"Does he even skate?" Milo asked skeptically, looking Ollie up and down. "No offence, kid, but you're built like a twig."

"Hey-" Ollie gasped, looking between you and Milo.

"A twig that races cars for a living," You defended, snapping at Milo, "Plus, he said he's been skating before, so get the damn skates." Milo walked away after getting Ollie's size, so you turned to him and said, "Sorry about that."

"Is he always like that?"

"A skeptic? Yeah," You shrugged, "He just likes giving people a hard time, I guess."

"Here's your skates," Milo said, passing them over to Ollie. "Good luck out there. It's a bunch of amateurs today. School trip."

"Ah, of course it is," You sighed, turning around and pulling Ollie over to the lockers where your friends were already lacing their skates up. "Getting started without us, I see."

"Not our fault you took forever," Your friend, Taylor, laughed as they took the guards of their blades and went out onto the ice.

"Ollie, you should invest in some skates if you want to keep coming out with us," Your other friend, Riley, chuckled as they followed after Taylor before leaning against the wall, "Might mistake you for an amateur if you keep getting rentals."

He's so screwed. There's no way he's getting out of this unscathed. He's done for.

"I need to tell you something-"

"Want me to lace your skates?" You accidentally cut him off, noticing he'd only put the skates on his feel. "Do you not remember how to do it?"

"No, not really," He sighed, letting you lace him up before letting you lead him to the ice. He was good with balance, but as soon as he stepped on teh ice, he was a baby deer. "It's slippery!"

"Kinda the point, Ollie," You giggled, still holding his hand tight. "Bend your knees a bit and lock your ankles. I can pull you around until you remember."

"You're really good at skating backward," He said breathlessly after you had been pulling him around the rink for a couple of laps. "How do you do that?"

"COmes with the almost daily practice," You chuckled, starting to pull away, "You try now."

"No!" He shouted, scrambling to keep hold of your hand, but instead, he ended up losing his balance. You reached out, but his momentum caused you to fall on top of you in a heap.

"Are you okay?" You breathed out, "I thought you said you knew how to ice skate?"

"I might've lied," He whispered, looking at you through his lashes. "Are you mad?"

"Kinda, but not that you lied," You scoffed, pushing to stand up and help Ollie up as well, "You're telling me this whole time I've been pulling you when we could have been skating like those cute couples in movies?"

"Hey, we can still be those cute couples in movies," He chuckled, wrapping his arms around your shoulders from behind. You laughed as you held onto his wrists and pushed off to meet back up with Taylor and Riley.

The four of you kept going around the rink with Taylor and Riley randomly spraying some of the kids to make them laugh.

"As much as I love my velcro boyfriend, I do need you to get off me for practice," You chuckled half-heartedly as you pat his forearm when most of the kids had gotten off the ice. Practice was starting soon, and you knew you needed to eat something before then.

"Don't act like you don't like me clinging to you," He pouted, wrapping his arms tighter around your shoulders and hiding his face in your neck.

"I do, but not when I need to practice. Why don't you just sit over there and look pretty?" You smirked, pointing towards the grandstands. He followed your finger as his face grew red; from the cold or from blushing, you will never know. "I do that enough during the season. It's your turn to be the supportive HAB."
