"And then there was this one time when she punched this guy who was disrespecting her straight in the face." Steve laughed, reminiscing the memory of Peggy Carter, his first love. You would probably have laughed a long at the memory if it hadn't been for the fact that Steve had brought her up about 20 times that day alone. She's all he ever talks about nowadays.

"Oh and one time she to-" before Steve could jump into another story about Peggy, you cut him off.

"Steve, do we really have to talk about her all the time?" You pleaded. He looked at you as if you had just attempted world domination or murdered some innocent kittens.

"Am I not allowed to talk about her? I mean I was in love with the woman." That one really hit you, you could feel pools of tears building up in your eyes.

"Ye-es Steve, I know you loved her and she was with you through everything but all you ever talk about is her and I'm not trying to sound selfish but you never pay attention to me anymore." You stuttered, the tears beginning to fall down your face.

Steve quickly stood up, pacing the room, a hard glare on his face. He turned to you, and spoke. "There you go again, everything always has to be about you, do you ever think about anyone or anything other than yourself?"

You looked at him in shock, in all the time you had known Steve he had never spoken to you, or anyone for that matter, like this, well maybe Tony but hey, that's another story.

"Steve all I'm trying to say is that maybe you could stop dwelling on the past a bit. I mean it's nice to look back on memories but it's like you don't even want to be here anymore." Your voice was filled with sadness.

He mumbled something under his breath, his eyebrows furrowing together. He ran his hand through his sandy blonde hair.

"What was that?" You asked, walking right up to his face, your hands on your hip.

"I said," he began, his face inches from yours, his whole body radiating anger. "Peggy would never have acted like this."

That was it, that was the last straw. You pushed him away from you and headed for your bedroom in your shared apartment.

You could hear his footsteps quickly follow after you but you ignored them. You grabbed a backpack and began to shove any item of clothing you saw into it.

"(Y/N) wha-at are you doing?" Steve asked, a hint of guilt and regret evident in his voice. You turned to face him.

"Well Steve, I figured since Peggy is just so amazing and I'm just so not then maybe I could just make things easier for you and leave and you can go hook up with an old lady, who may I add can barely remember your name, in a nursing home, how does that sound?" You smiled sarcastically.

Maybe that was a bit too far, it came out in the heat of the moment but there was no way you were backing down now.

He looked at you, shocked at the very least. Before he could say anything more you were heading out the door, maybe Natasha would let you stay with her.

It had been a few days since your argument and you were nothing but depressed. You wouldn't eat, sleep or shower. Natasha had tried to get you to something but after receiving a pillow to her head she decided it was probably best to leave you on your own.

Early that morning she had left on a mission with Clint. She told you she'd be back in two days tops.

You were sitting watching Gotham (sorry, it's my favourite show) when a knock sounded from the door, you couldn't really be bothered with anyone today so decided to ignore it. A few seconds later, another knock came.

"Aright, I'm coming!" You shouted angrily, to say you were pissed off was an understatement. You opened the front door to find Steve standing there with a bouquet of daisies, a hopeful expression on his face.
You went to slam the door shut but he quickly put his foot in it.

"(Y/N), listen okay, I'm sorry." He said, his voice pleading. "I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have been talking about Peggy all the time, your my girlfriend, my attention should always be on you. Sometimes I just think of how everything used to be before I was frozen and I just get sad and it's all I can think about. I promise I'll try fix it. I just need you to forgive me, you're all I can think about, I miss you. Please come home."

After hearing this long speech, a few tears fell. Without thinking, you ever so slowly opened the door, your head peaking round it.
You met his stare, his eyes were filled with tears, some had already fallen.

"Oh, Steve." You sighed, lifting your hand to wipe away the tears. You didn't move your hand once he was done. His eyes were filled with guilt and sadness. Before you could think, he was pulling you into a bone crushing hug whispering 'sorry' over and over again.

You reacted to the hug by pulling your arms up around him tightly, your head resting in the crook of his neck. You could feel his tears wetting your shoulder.

"It's okay, it's okay. I forgive you Steve." you spoke in a soft tone, your voice cracking. When he heard those words he pulled back, looking into your eyes.

He leaned in and placed his lips on your own. You melted into the kiss, your hands around his neck and his cupping your face. He mumbled an 'I love you so much' against your lips.

"I love you too, Steve."
