Winter was probably the greatest time of the year to be in New York City, sure you loved the summer months where it would be light outside for an eternity but something about the cold season made it better than the others. Being able to wrap up in layers and layers of clothes, drink endless amounts of hot chocolate and getting to go walks in the snow was why winter was your favourite season. Also because of all the amazing Christmas decorations in shop windows, all the Christmas tree's and the festivities gave you a source of happiness.
Your girlfriend Natasha's opinion on Christmas was quite the opposite, she didn't really celebrate the holiday that much, she more or less acted as if it was any other day. Sure she gave her close friends a card or a present but nothing rather extravagant. Of course there was a good reason as to why she never showed interest in the festive season, and the reason was is that it made her feel lonely. She didn't have family, or a partner to share the special day with, nothing exciting to wake up to on Christmas morning. Her friends, for example: Clint, had their families to wake up to and to spend the day with but Nat had no one. That was until she met you. You made Nat feel as if finally she had someone who would heal her loneliness so of course when the winter months got closer, Nat no longer had the dreaded feeling of despondency and lonesomeness in the pit of her stomach.
"Oh, Nat, remind me we need to get Tony and Pepper's Christmas present at some point today." You said to the red-headed woman beside you as you walked down one of the many streets in New York.
"You don't have to get them anything, (Y/N), I'm sure they wouldn't mind not receiving anything." She reminded you, turning to look at your face. Her heart stopped beating for you looked so beautiful in her eyes. Your skin was snow white, contrasting to your bright red nose due to the cold. Snow flakes were caught in your eyebrows and your hair was all messy and unkept around your face, just the way she liked it.
"Yeah I know, but they're your friends Nat, we'll get them something affordable." She tried to protest but you beat her to it. "No but's, Romanoff."
She just laughed at you, the way you tried to come off as tough with her but it really just resulted in her finding you even cuter.
You continued on your walk down the street, hands intertwined and shoulders occasionally bumping into each other. You were busy telling Natasha about a Christmas memory from your childhood.
"...So then it turned out it really was my mum and dad who ate the cookies and drank all the milk, not Santa. I never spoke to them for weeks and refused to come out my room on Christmas morning." You finished your story, reminiscing on your early childhood memory.
You both stopped outside a jewellery store, looking to see if there might have been any Christmas time deals. You spotted a beautiful, diamond encrusted silver necklace sitting in the corner of the window.
"Oh Nat, look how beautiful that necklace is." You pointed over to where it was, though your hopefulness was soon trampled over after noticing that the price was anything over you could afford. You silently chuckled to yourself "Never mind, I just saw the price."
You pulled her away from the shop window, telling her that you were both to hurry if you wanted to get a seat at your favourite coffee shop.
"Hey, (Y/N), you go ahead and order our hot chocolate. I'm sure I just saw someone I knew." Before you could reply, Natasha hurried back down the street you had came from. You shrugged it off and headed for the coffee shop.

You and Nat both sat cuddled up on the sofa in your guy's shared apartment. You were covered in layers of soft, cosy blankets. The coal fire in the corner of the room heated up the place nicely, leaving you's both warm.
"(Y/N)," Natasha spoke up, breaking the comfortable silence in the room. "I want to give you one of your presents early."
"Oh Nat, you didn't have to even get me anything." You sat up on the couch as she leaned down and picked up a shopping bag off the ground.
"Close your eyes." She demanded, you did as you were told. "No peeking, (Y/N)." She warned.
A small box, well what you assumed was one, was placed delicately into your hands. "Okay, you can open your eyes."
You opened them and looked down at what was in your hands. It was indeed a small box, a jewellery one. You opened it up and were shocked at what you found.
"Oh my god, I can't accept this. It's too much!" The necklace you had saw earlier was sitting in the box, surrounded by red velvet.
"Nonsense, it's Christmas. I wanted to get you it so your going to take it." Nat ordered, pushing the box back into your hands.
"Thank you so much Nat, I love you." You put the necklace and the box on the coffee table. You leaned over to place a soft kiss on her lips, she returned the gesture, wrapping her arms around your neck and entangling her fingers in your hair. You heard her mumble a small 'I love you too' back to you.
