Note: I really hope you like this because I'm actually pretty pleased with this! I hope it was how you imagined it.
Warnings: So this contains a bit of Peggy's funeral from civil war but none of the actual movie because I can't remember any of it so nothing that is a spoiler, well in my opinion anyways.

Also sorry for any spelling mistakes

Steve Rogers was a strong man physically but mentally he was the complete opposite. The star spangled man with a plan was no stranger to feeling alone. But then you, this amazing ball of light, positivity and happiness walked into his life and changed everything for the better.

Before meeting you, he didn't really feel like he fit in, he felt as if the only reason people made such a fuss about him was because of his abilities and the fact that he was Captain America. Take that away from him and he's just Steven Grant Rogers, the kid from Brooklyn who got beat up behind diners. The guy who falsified countless enlistment forms just so he could be like all the other guys he knew, so he could be like his best pal Bucky. The guy who all the beautiful dames, as he called them, took no notice in.

Then Steve met you. One of the very few people in his life who loved him not for his abilities, not for his status, but for who he truly was beneath all of that. You made Steve feel loved, you made him feel like he had more to life than just being an asset to The Avengers.

Steve was coping very well in this new age which was very unfamiliar to him. It was nothing he had ever experienced. Everything was so advanced compared to the 40's. With your help, he could almost pass as someone from this era. Almost. But there was always something that would bring out the old Steve, the one from before the ice. There was Peggy, it was great that Steve had someone from his past there for him but it was clear to both you and him that she didn't have much longer left in this world and that pained Steve deeply.

Then there was Bucky, when S.H.I.E.L.D. was infiltrated by HYDRA, The Winter Soldier came into play. It was his mission to kill Steve. When Steve discovered that this soldier wasn't just any old person, that it was Bucky, his heart broke. He couldn't believe it, it was his pal Bucky. And what hurt Steve more than anything else, was the fact that Bucky didn't know who Steve was.

After discovering that Bucky was alive, Steve made it his mission to find him, with the help of Sam, one of Steve's trusty new friends. But it took time and patience.

When Steve got the news, he didn't know how to react. He was sitting debating with the other Avengers about signing something when he got the text informing him that Peggy had passed in her sleep. He didn't know what to do. In that moment he wasn't Steve Rogers the strong, valiant soldier, he was Steve Rogers, the small, vulnerable kid from Brooklyn.

You held Steve closely to you that night, whispering to him that everything was going to be okay, that Peggy was in a better place. He thanked you, told you how much he loved you. He asked if you would go with him to the funeral. Of course you said yes, not wanting him to have to go through it alone.

You took your seats in the large, historic church. You and Steve were sitting at the front, accompanied by Sam who volunteered to come along to support Steve. You turned your head, eyeing everyone in the church, there were a lot of people. Of course there were, Peggy Carter was one of the most amazing, influential women in history.
