Chapter 61: Tomorrow

Tomorrow.

That single word had been on Aiah's mind ever since she woke up this morning. She looked at the calendar hanging on the wall. Tomorrow, classes will resume. Tomorrow, everyone will be back at the university.

Tomorrow...

Will she be there too?

Aiah let out a deep sigh before placing her phone beside her. She had lost count of how many times she had opened the group chat today. Everyone seemed excited to see each other again after the ten-day break.

Well... almost everyone.

She noticed that Khae hadn't sent a single message.

Not even one.

Aiah pursed her lips.

Is she okay?

The thought came so naturally that it almost annoyed her.

Why was she still worried about Khae?

After everything that happened?

After all the tears she cried?

She closed her eyes.

Because...

She still loves her.

And that's exactly what makes this so difficult.

A knock on the door pulled her away from her thoughts.

"Sweetheart?"

Lou slowly opened the door after hearing Aiah's soft response.

She smiled when she saw her daughter sitting on the bed with her laptop open.

Unfortunately, the screen had already gone black.

It meant Aiah hadn't touched it for quite some time.

"Still thinking?" Lou asked as she sat beside her.

Aiah smiled weakly.

"Is it that obvious?"

"Very." Lou chuckled.

Silence filled the room once again. Lou knew Aiah well enough not to rush her. She'll speak when she's ready.

After a few moments, Aiah finally broke the silence.

"Mom..."

"Hmm?"

"Do you think I'm running away?"

Lou looked at her. She wasn't expecting that question.

"What makes you say that?"

Aiah lowered her head.

"I've been thinking..." she paused before continuing. "Maybe... maybe transferring to another school would make things easier."

She finally said it. The thought she had been keeping to herself for days.

Lou didn't answer right away. Instead, she gently held Aiah's hand.

"Will it?"

Aiah remained quiet. Will it? She honestly didn't know.
She imagined herself studying in another university.

New classmates.
New professors.
A different environment.
No Khae.
No memories.
It sounded peaceful.

But...

Would she really be happy? She wasn't sure.

"I don't know." Aiah admitted.

Lou smiled softly.
