Chapter 151: New Rhythms

For the next hour, Aiah stayed by the window with her laptop. But every now and then, her attention drifted toward the counter.

Not because she was trying to watch.

It just happened.

The café had a certain rhythm.

Angela moved efficiently between the kitchen and the serving area, checking orders before they went out.

Fea handled customers with an easy confidence, answering questions without ever making anyone feel rushed.

Lindtsey kept everything organized, stepping in whenever the café became too busy.

And Khae...

Khae was learning.

That was the thing Aiah noticed most.

She wasn't pretending she already knew everything.

She wasn't embarrassed to ask.

She listened.

She practiced.

She tried again when something didn't work.

Aiah smiled when Khae redid a drink after deciding the foam wasn't quite right.

A few months ago, Khae probably would have simply accepted it and moved on.

Now she cared about improving.

"You really like this."

Aiah glanced up.

Fea was passing by after checking one of the tables.

"I do?"

Fea tipped her chin toward the counter.

"You keep looking over there."

Aiah followed her gaze.

Khae was currently explaining something to Lindtsey while holding two cups in her hands.

"She's happy."

Fea's gaze settled on Khae.

"Yeah."

There was something warm in her voice.

"She is."

Aiah turned back to her.

"You noticed?"

Fea nodded.

"Khae enjoys learning."

"She does."

"It's actually nice to see."

"It is."

Then Fea returned to work before the conversation could become anything more.

And Aiah appreciated that.

There was something comfortable about Fea.

She wasn't trying to be overly familiar.

She was simply kind.

The afternoon rush came quickly.

Within minutes, the quiet café transformed.

Orders filled the counter.

Customers waited for drinks.

The espresso machine seemed to never stop.

"Khae, table seven needs an extra spoon."

"I got it."

"Angela, can we get two more sandwiches?"

"Already preparing them."
