Friday arrived before either of them realized the week was almost over.

By nine in the morning, Aiah was already buried in layers, typography, and revision notes.

Her desk had become a familiar mess.

A notebook sat open beside her keyboard.

A cup of coffee had gone cold.

Someone in the next row was arguing that blue looked "friendlier" than green.

Someone else disagreed.

Creative departments were strange places.

Aiah was starting to like that.

Her phone vibrated.

Baby ❤️

A smile appeared before she even opened the message.

Khae:
Good morning.
Already working?

Aiah:
Unfortunately.
You?

A photo arrived.

The café hadn't opened yet.

The lights were on.

The chairs were still upside down on the tables.

A single mug sat beside the espresso machine.

Khae:
Opening shift today.

Aiah smiled.

Aiah:
Don't forget breakfast.

The typing bubble appeared immediately.

Khae:
I was going to tell you the same thing.

Aiah laughed quietly.

Aiah:
Too late.
I already ate.

Khae:
Proof?

Aiah looked down at the empty sandwich wrapper on her desk.

She snapped a picture.

Aiah:
Satisfied?

Khae:
Very.
Good girl.

Aiah stared at the screen.

Her cheeks warmed.

Aiah:
You're getting bold.

Khae:
Am I?

Aiah:
Very.

Khae:
I learned from my girlfriend.

Aiah smiled so widely that she had to put her phone down.

"Aiah."

She looked up.

Bea was standing beside her.

"Happy Friday?"

Aiah cleared her throat.

"...Something like that."

The morning disappeared into meetings and revisions.

Just before lunch, her phone buzzed again.

A new picture.

Three drinks lined up neatly on the counter.

The foam looked almost identical.

Khae:
Progress.

Aiah zoomed in.

One heart leaned just slightly to the left.

She immediately typed.
