Khae wasn't entirely sure how long they had stayed in bed after their good morning kiss.

Long enough for the sunlight to creep farther across the room.

Long enough for Aiah to complain that Khae was being "unreasonably clingy."

Long enough for Khae to insist that she wasn't.

"You've hugged me for ten minutes."

"I have not."

Aiah looked at the digital clock on the bedside table.

"It's been twelve."

"...Time is an illusion."

Aiah laughed.

"You sound like you still have a hangover."

"I do."

"You deserve it."

"I know."

Khae sighed dramatically before finally letting go.

"Fine."

"We should get up."

Aiah smiled.

"I thought you'd never say that."

"I almost didn't."

The aroma of garlic fried rice drifted upstairs before they even reached the bottom of the staircase.

Janice looked up from placing another plate on the dining table.

"There you are."

"I was about to come get you two."

Khae scratched the back of her neck.

"...Sorry."

"I figured."

Janice smiled knowingly.

Marcus looked up from the newspaper in his hands.

"Morning."

"Morning, Dad."

"Good morning, Tito."

Marcus folded the newspaper neatly and set it aside.

He looked at Khae for a few seconds.

"So."

Khae immediately became suspicious.

"...So?"

"How's your excellent self-awareness today?"

Silence.

Aiah bit the inside of her cheek.

Janice looked down at the table.

Neither of them lasted more than two seconds.

They burst into laughter.

Khae closed her eyes.

"...Lindtsey."

Marcus smiled.

"She gave us a very detailed report."

"I don't like her anymore."

"You'll survive."

"I won't."

Marcus chuckled.

"So?"

"How's the head?"

"...I've experienced better mornings."
