The laughter hadn't even settled before Yves clapped her hands once.
"Okay."
Nobody listened.
Lindtsey was still staring suspiciously at Khae.
Christine was trying to explain why she had every right to interrupt people.
Gwen was comfortably leaning against the couch, enjoying the chaos she'd helped create.
Chico looked like he was trying very hard not to laugh.
Yves sighed.
"I've lost them already."
"You never had them," Christine said.
"I had everyone's attention for exactly thirty seconds."
"A new personal record," Khae replied.
Christine pointed dramatically at her screen.
"There! She did it again."
Khae tilted her head.
"Did what?"
"You teased me."
"You make it very easy."
"I am being targeted."
"You've said that three times tonight."
"Because it's true."
Aiah laughed quietly.
"I think she enjoys seeing your reactions."
Christine looked offended.
"You too?"
"I'm just making an observation."
"You've changed."
"I've been around Khae too long."
"I blame her."
"I'll accept the responsibility."
Lindtsey suddenly gasped.
"Everyone."
Nobody reacted.
"Everyone!"
Yves looked up from her notebook.
"...What now?"
Lindtsey pointed dramatically toward Aiah's square.
"Watch."
Aiah frowned.
"What?"
Buzz.
Her phone lit up.
Almost instinctively, she glanced down.
A tiny smile appeared on her face.
Buzz.
A second notification.
This time...
Khae's phone lit up too.
She looked down.
Smiled.
Then looked back up at the call as if nothing had happened.
Lindtsey practically stood from her chair.
"I KNEW IT!"
The entire call erupted into laughter.
"We're not doing anything," Aiah protested.
