The evening traffic was surprisingly light, and the red car glided smoothly through the open streets.
Inside, the atmosphere was anything but calm.
Since they were completely alone, Khae didn't even bother hiding how happy she was.
She shifted in her seat until she was facing Aiah completely.
Her good hand came to rest lightly on Aiah's thigh, giving it a gentle squeeze.
Aiah swallowed hard, feeling warmth spread through her chest and lower at the simple touch.
Her muscles tensed under the heat of Khae's palm.
"Khae..." she said, trying very hard to sound stern.
"Behave."
The attempt failed the moment Khae noticed the blush already coloring her cheeks and her breathing growing shallow.
"I can't help it," Khae admitted with a quiet laugh.
She moved her fingers a little higher, tracing slow, deliberate circles on Aiah's skin that made Aiah's heart skip a beat.
"Eight hours without you felt way too long. I missed you."
She leaned closer, resting her head briefly against Aiah's shoulder, her breath brushing softly against Aiah's neck. Aiah smiled helplessly, completely turned on by the proximity but trying to focus on the road.
"I missed you too."
The confession settled warmly between them.
They had always been like this.
No matter how busy life became, no matter how many routines they built around work and school, every reunion somehow felt like coming home.
Aiah's thoughts drifted back to their anniversary—the room, the privacy, the way they had completely lost control together and forgotten everything else for a little while.
Her cheeks warmed even more, her face burning hot with sweet embarrassment.
Beside her, Khae let out a tiny sigh before muttering under her breath, "...Damn."
Aiah blinked. "What?" She is completely unaware that Khae was thinking about the same thing.
Khae immediately looked out the window.
Fudge! Khae, control yourself.
Khae reprimanded herself for thinking about what had happened between them on their anniversary. It had never left her mind since then. It was, indeed, the most unforgettable day of their lives as lovers.
"Nothing."
"...Khae."
"I'm fine."
The answer came a little too quickly.
Her face was completely red, looking deeply affected and overwhelmed by her own thoughts of that anniversary night.
Aiah couldn't stop herself from smiling. She knew that tone.
She reached over at the next red light and gently squeezed Khae's hand.
"You've been thinking too much."
Khae laughed, covering her face for a second.
"...Maybe."
Aiah's smile only widened at the huge rush of kilig.
"You are adorable."
"Oh, don't start."
