For the first time in what felt like weeks, neither of them had anywhere else they needed to be.

No work deadlines.

No classes.

No meetings.

No checking the time every few minutes because one of them had to leave soon.

Just a Saturday.

Just them.

And somehow, that already felt special.

Aiah sat behind the wheel of Khae's new car, both hands resting carefully on the steering wheel.

She was trying very hard not to look too pleased with herself.

Khae noticed anyway.

"You're smiling."

Aiah glanced at her.

"I am not."

"You are."

"I'm focusing."

Khae looked ahead.

"You've been focusing for ten minutes."

"That's because I'm a responsible driver."

A small smile appeared on Khae's face.

"I never said you weren't."

Aiah looked at her suspiciously.

"You're being unusually quiet."

"I'm enjoying the ride."

"That sounded suspiciously like you're checking if I'm driving properly."

Khae finally laughed.

"Maybe a little."

Aiah gasped.

"You gave me the keys."

"I know."

"You trusted me."

"I do."

"Then you can't secretly judge me."

Khae turned to her briefly.

"I can do both."

Aiah stared at her.

Then laughed.

"That is such a Khae answer."

Khae smiled and leaned back against the seat.

But the truth was, she really was enjoying it.

Not just the car.

Not even the fact that Aiah was driving.

It was the feeling of watching someone she loved discover another part of herself.

Aiah had always been capable.

Khae knew that.

But there were still moments when Aiah surprised her.

And she loved those moments.

Their first stop was a small breakfast place tucked away on a quiet street.

Nothing fancy.

No reservation.

No carefully planned itinerary.

Just a small restaurant with warm sunlight coming through the windows and the smell of freshly cooked food filling the air.

They sat across from each other, their drinks between them.
