The following Tuesday, Aiah found herself outside Mezzo again.

She hadn't planned on coming.

At least, that was what she told herself.

Her office was only a few minutes away, and she had finished work earlier than expected. She could have gone straight home.

Instead...

She somehow ended up with one hand on the café door.

Gwen was going to have a field day if she ever found out.

The familiar bell chimed.

It was quieter than Friday.

Most of the afternoon rush had already passed, leaving only a handful of customers scattered around the café.

"Good timing," Lindtsey said as she carried a tray of freshly baked pastries to the display case.

"You missed the chaos."

"I planned it that way."

Lindtsey gave her a look.

"Sure you did."

Aiah laughed.

"Is Khae busy?"

Lindtsey looked toward the coffee bar.

"Always."

Aiah followed her gaze.

Khae and Fea were restocking cups together.

"...You put the large ones on the wrong shelf."

"I did not."

"You absolutely did."

Khae frowned.

"They've always been here."

Fea walked over, took one cup from the shelf above, and held it beside another.

"Look."

"..."

"...Oh."

"I rest my case."

Khae laughed.

"Fine."

"I was wrong."

"I'm framing this day."

"You get one."

"One?"

"For the whole month."

"I'll take it."

Fea grinned.

"I knew you would."

Aiah smiled to herself.

They really had become comfortable around each other.

Not in a way that drew attention.

Just...

Easy.

The kind of comfort that came from seeing someone almost every day.

Before she could think much more about it, Khae noticed her.

"There you are."

"You keep saying that."

"Because you keep appearing."

"I walked through the front door."

"I noticed."
