The first person to notice was not Aiah.

It wasn't Khae either.

It was Lindtsey.

Khae had exactly twelve minutes before her first class.

Normally, she would spend those twelve minutes checking announcements or reviewing her notes.

Today...

She was smiling at her phone.

Again.

Lindtsey had been sitting across from her for nearly five minutes, pretending to read an article for International Studies.

Pretending.

Because every few seconds, her eyes drifted toward Khae.

Toward that smile.

Toward the way Khae looked at her phone as if the screen held something infinitely more important than the news.

Finally, Lindtsey closed her tablet.

"Khae."

"Hm?"

"You kissed her."

Khae nearly dropped her phone.

"...What?"

Lindtsey folded her arms.

"You kissed Aiah."

Silence.

Khae blinked twice.

"...How do you know?"

Lindtsey smiled.

Not teasingly.

Fondly.

"I've known you since we were fifteen."

Khae looked away, already smiling despite herself.

"You've had that face exactly three times."

She held up one finger.

"The day we found out we both got accepted into this university."

A second finger.

"The day Aiah agreed to be your girlfriend."

Then the third.

"And today."

Khae let out a helpless laugh.

"...Is it really that obvious?"

"To everyone?"

Lindtsey shook her head.

"Probably not."

A pause.

"To me?"

She smiled wider.

"Immediately."

Khae lowered her gaze to the table.

"...We're together again."

For a moment...

Lindtsey didn't say anything.

She simply looked at her best friend.

Really looked.

At the girl she'd grown up with.

The girl who had cried on her bedroom floor after her mother died.

The girl who spent years pretending she didn't need her father until Marcus finally learned how to become one again.
