The drive back was much quieter than the ride to the KTV.
Not because anyone was upset.
Just because the excitement of the night had finally settled.
Khae was asleep in the back seat, her head resting against Aiah's shoulder.
Every now and then, she would mumble something that nobody could understand.
Aiah would just smile and gently adjust her position so she would be more comfortable.
In the front seat, Lindtsey looked back through the mirror.
She couldn't help smiling.
It was such a Khae thing to do.
Spend the entire night insisting she was perfectly fine.
Then fall asleep the moment she knew she was safe.
Kuya Islao noticed the smile on Lindtsey's face.
"She really had a good night."
Lindtsey nodded.
"She did."
Then she glanced back again.
"And I think she needed it."
The SUV finally arrived at Khae's house.
The gate opened.
Marcus stepped outside the front door.
Beside him was Ate Janice.
The moment Ate Janice saw Khae leaning against Aiah, her eyes widened.
"Khae."
Khae slowly opened her eyes.
"...Ate Janice."
Ate Janice walked closer and looked at her.
"You look sleepy."
"I am."
"You drank?"
Khae thought carefully.
"...Yes."
Ate Janice stared at her.
Then she looked at Aiah.
"How much?"
Aiah looked at Lindtsey.
Lindtsey sighed.
"...Four bottles."
Ate Janice blinked.
"Four?"
Khae immediately looked guilty.
"I know."
"You don't even drink that much."
"I know."
"And tomorrow you're going to regret this."
"I know."
Ate Janice tried not to laugh.
"At least you're aware."
Khae nodded seriously.
"I have excellent self-awareness."
Marcus laughed.
"That is the most Khae answer possible."
Even Aiah couldn't stop herself from smiling.
Inside the house, everything became calmer.
Kuya Islao helped bring in Khae's things before looking at Lindtsey.
