The car was still parked outside Gwen's house.

The engine was off now.

Silence filled the space that moments ago had been charged with something neither of them was brave enough to finish saying out loud.

Aiah had her face still half-covered with her hands.

Khae was staring straight ahead like the windshield might suddenly offer emotional guidance.

Gwen stood outside the passenger window, arms folded, trying very hard not to smile too openly.

Then she knocked once on the glass again.

"You two are going to fog up the windows at this rate."

Aiah groaned louder.

Khae leaned her head back against the seat.

"Why are you like this?"

Gwen tilted her head.

"Like what?"

"Existing at the worst possible time."

"I live here."

That made Aiah laugh.

Khae turned slightly toward her.

"Your cousin is a menace."

"She raised me."

"That explains a lot."

Gwen leaned closer to the window.

"So," she said casually, "are we continuing this dramatic romantic confession or do I leave and pretend I didn't witness emotional chaos in my driveway?"

Khae exhaled slowly.

"...You saw that?"

Gwen blinked.

"I heard the entire sentence fragment, yes."

Aiah slowly lowered her hands.

"This is humiliating."

Gwen nodded.

"Yes."

Khae muttered, "I was about to ask her something important."

"I know," Gwen said.

Both Aiah and Khae froze.

"You know?" Aiah asked.

Gwen shrugged.

"You've been holding hands in my living room like I don't have eyes."

Khae coughed.

"...We didn't hold hands in your living room."

"You did. You just thought I wasn't looking."

Aiah buried her face again.

"I want to disappear."

Gwen smiled faintly.

"No you don't."

Then, her tone softened slightly.

"You just want privacy."

That made the air shift.

Aiah looked up.

Khae finally turned fully toward Gwen.

For once, Gwen wasn't teasing.

Just observing.

"You're both terrible at pretending," Gwen said.
