Amber POV

I glanced at the clock.

6 PM.

I had just hung up the phone with Zach.

I couldn't help replaying the conversation, running my hand through my hair. He was frantic.

Desperate dripped from his words.

"She can't go back there."

"I don't know what to do."

But he didn't ask me for help.

He asked me what to do.

There was a difference.

Zach had never been the type to ask anyone what to do. Especially not me.

Whatever had happened had scared him.

I sat back against the couch, staring at the ceiling.

All I knew was that this girl was involved in way more than I think Zach could understand.

What happened at that restaurant with Jackson?

And that same sweet, red-faced girl at Zach's house...

Something was very wrong here.

Which left one more person.

Her father.

Lyon Light.

I mean, I keep seeing her everywhere. She's famous in this town.

When I saw her with Jackson, I instantly recognized her. Her family was involved in basically everything that kept this town running. Her father practically funded half of it.

On top of that, he owned Angelic Co.

A company that specialized in regenerative medicine and longevity research.

It was always in the papers.

"Advancing human health through regenerative medicine and cellular research. The science of longevity."

I had read up on him a couple times.

Lyon Light.

Everyone knew the name.

The kind of man people wanted to shake hands with.

The kind of man whose name opened doors.

The kind of man who could walk into a room and suddenly make everyone remember their manners.

But I'd never had a reason to care about him.

Until now.

I picked up my phone again.

Angelic Co.

The website came up almost immediately.

Of course it did.

Everything about it was perfect.

Clean white pages.

Blue lettering.

Pictures of laboratories that looked like they had never had a speck of dust in them.

Scientists in white coats smiling for the camera.

Research.

Charts.

Awards.

Everything screamed trustworthy.

I scrolled through the different sections.

Regenerative medicine.

Cellular research.
