I had a lot more digging to do.
I started with Angelica.
If she was the reason behind the name Angelic Co., then I wanted to know who she had been before she became Lyon Light's dead wife.
The search results were endless.
Charity events.
Gala appearances.
Old newspaper articles.
Pictures of her at universities, hospitals, fundraisers.
Angelica had been everywhere.
And apparently, everyone had loved her.
I kept scrolling until I found something that caught my attention.
Her father.
Edmund.
I clicked on his name.
And suddenly, everything changed.
He wasn't just wealthy.
He was *old* money.
The kind of wealth that didn't need to be announced because everyone already knew.
His family had owned businesses in the town for generations. They had donated land, funded hospitals, sponsored schools.
The Light family hadn't built their fortune from nothing.
They had inherited it.
And Angelica had grown up right in the middle of it.
I leaned back.
Then I searched Lyon.
The contrast was almost laughable.
No family empire.
No private schools.
No beautiful childhood home.
Just poverty.
There were articles about him from when he was younger. Most of them were written after he became successful, of course, because people loved a good rags-to-riches story.

I almost rolled my eyes.
Everything.
Funny word.
I clicked on one of the older interviews.
Lyon was younger in the picture.
Much younger.
He didn't look like the man I knew from the papers.
There was something different about his eyes.
Hunger.
Not for food.
For something else.
Power, maybe.
Recognition.
Security.
I read the interview.
He talked about growing up hungry.
About wearing clothes that didn't belong to him.
About stealing food when he was young.
About knowing what it felt like to have nothing.
Then he talked about meeting Angelica.
