"Look at all these guns! We’ll be cruising along the streets big time!" Brock exclaimed, as he saw many variety of weapons.
"Alright Brock, do the stealing way. I’ll be getting these machine guns and you’ll be seizing that equipment over there", Diane said.
"Loud and clear", Brock complied, while he was grabbing boxes of equipment.
Meanwhile, Ashyra, with her friends, were busy filling up their bags with snacks and confectioneries. Bob seized a bar of chocolate and ate it.
"We should get a barrel for these snacks", Hunnigan said.
"Why?" Bob asked her, while munching.
"So we won’t get hungry", Debbie replied, then giggled.
"I know that", Bob annoyingly said.
"Snap out of it Bob. It’s only a joke", Ashyra said.
"Whatever, healthcare providers. Just keep it quick."
On the other hand, Chief and Virgil were making a conversation.
"We should spend our time cruising along the subway, rather than along the streets. As far as I can see, this city’s getting worse than ever. We need a smooth travel underground, so we won’t be distracted again and again", Virgil suggested.
"Good plan Sergeant. That idea of yours can transfer us from here to Wintergreen fast, safely and cautiously, without stopping at the worst areas", Chief approved.
"I’m glad that you liked my idea, but we must tell them this first."
After several minutes of a hard day's work, all of them regrouped at the lobby eventually.
"Comrades, listen to us very carefully because this is critically serious. Chief and I have just come up with an easier and a better plan. We should cruise the remaining miles of this city by train. With that plan, we can come up at the Wintergreen in the shortest and in the most convenient time ever", Virgil started to explain.
"The Rushford Subway Train Station is a mile away from here, so we still need a decent vehicle to approach it. I know Styles does everything he can to find ourselves a ride. We must wait for him here until he comes back. So tell us now if you all want our idea or not and you’re all free to tell or say something about it", Chief continued.
"I say that your idea suits perfectly to our survival", Debbie agreed.
"Two thumbs up", Carl agreed, too.
"Hell yeah", Bob said.
"Chief, you did it again. Same with you Serge", Brock said, and then he saluted.
Everybody had approved the plan.
Suddenly, a sound of a roaring engine was heard coming from the entrance, combined with hysterical growls coming from the second floor.
"It’s doomsday now", Brock whispered.
"Everybody grab your guns! We’ll be moving out now!" Virgil shouted.
Instantly, another bus came inside in full speed.
"Everybody take cover!"
"Beep! Beep! Beep!"
Suddenly, a huge wave of infected broke through from the second floor and came running in deep hunger for flesh!
"It’s Styles! Hold the line!"
“Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang . . . !”
"You’ve got to be kidding me with these cannibalistic freaks!" Brock complained, while he was shooting them.
Everything went nuts. The gunners battled without readiness in action, as some of them got in the bus.
"I’m sorry I’m late", I apologized.
"It’s alright Styles. Take this and back us up, as we help the others get inside", Chief ordered, as he gave me a gun.
As Chief and Virgil accompanied the others, I shot everything bad in sight, while I was taking cover.
“Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang . . . !”
"Go, go, go! Don’t stop!" Virgil yelled.
"I’m out!" Brock shouted.
"They’re too many of them coming! We can’t hold them off!" Carl shouted.
"Everybody get inside!" Chief shouted.
"Ladies, go first!" Bob yelled.
“Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang . . . !”
Diane, Ashyra, Debbie and Hunnigan got inside first, while Brock, Bob, and Carl were holding the line. Furthermore, more and more waves of infected were next accommodating the half of the mall!
"Get in boys! We’ll back you up!", Diane shouted, as she led the feminine side.
Brock, Bob and Carl ran toward the bus and they kept on shooting as they stepped inside. Unfortunately, an infected grabbed Carl from behind and it bit him on his neck!
"Ahh! Dammit!" a loud moan was being heard among the mob.
"Carl!" Virgil shouted.
"No Serge! We need to get out of here now!" Brock shouted.
"Styles, step on it!" Chief ordered me.
I had no choice but to speed away from the mall. The infected were still on our tail, but fortunately, they were being taken care of.
"Styles, stick to our new plan. We must drop by the subway station just a mile ahead", Chief said.
"I know why, so I approve it. Hang on!"
We passed by numerous mazes of collided vehicles and roaming infected along the streets. I kept my eye on the road, while everyone was making his and her conversations.
"Serge, we’re very sorry about Carl. We hope you’re not blaming us for what happened to him", Diane apologized.
Virgil kept himself silent. After a few minutes, he spoke:
"No. You all shouldn’t be sorry. Carl had been a brave soldier for the past eight years. We must be thankful of what he did. He had just sacrificed his life back there, just to save us all, like what Mike also did."
"We’re still not losing Carl. Maybe his body was being dismembered, but still, his memory was not yet being eaten", I said.
Virgil looked and smiled at me.
"You’re a very brave man, Jacob. Maybe you’ve been a tardy man a while ago, but still, you were on time saving our lives back there."
"Don’t mention it. It’s my duty."
We were just a foot away from the subway station and everything still turned out to be a rough one. It was always very right to say that there was nothing more dreadful than staying alive.
