Louis Tomlinson
"Anne. I'm... I'm sorry. I didn't see you there. Um, have a seat." I said, putting Harry's clothes down on one of the chairs near the kitchen. I turned around and quickly removed my wedding ring from my finger and slid it in my pocket.
"No, it's fine. I'm sorry I didn't tell you I was coming over," she sat down on the couch. "Are those... my son's clothes?"
"Yeah, they are. He um... He was in a hurry and he wanted to change his clothes so yeah he just tossed them around." Stupid. Worst excuse ever.
"Would you like something to drink?" I asked her.
"No, I'm good. I'm not gonna stay long. I have far more important things to do." She crossed her legs and put her hands on her lap as she looked at me sternly. I couldn't meet her eyes by the way she was staring at me. Her eyes were like arrows that are pointing towards me, I'm just waiting for me to pass out.
"So I heard about last night's party," she said, leaning on the couch but her eyes were fixated on me.
"Yeah, it was a great night." I nodded, looking down at the floor. I tried looking up at her but I can't. Her stares were just too scary I'm probably going to turn into lava when I make eye contact with her.
And an awkward, almost eerie silence covered the room as I waited for my body to evaporate.
"Enough with the pleasantries, let's cut to the chase." She said. "I know what's going on between you and my son."
Holy shit she's going to kill me. There are probably hired gunmen outside who are currently pointing their snipers at me. There's probably a red laser end pointed towards my forehead right now. Or a monster that's waiting for me to go outside so it can eat me.
"Don't worry, I won't ask you to break up with him. You're not in high school." She said. If she wasn't staring at me, I would've let out a sigh of relief.
"You're old enough to make decisions for yourself. I've heard so many ridiculous things, I even heard that you got married to him. I don't care if it's true or not, although I'd appreciate it if you told me, but you know what's best for you, Louis. I want you to remember that." She said with a scary tone.
"I only want what's best for my son and you're not it. You may be good for him, but you know for a fact that he deserves better. I can tell that you're a good person, but would you want to live with someone who will always be greater than you? If people find out about this, they're not going to judge you, they're going to judge him. Would you want to give him that burden?" By the way she was speaking, she was threatening me in a subtle way.
"I'm sure you've heard about my son's...exes. His ventures aren't new to me. You see, he does this all the time. Dates someone, breaks up with the person, and then finds another one to date and break. It's a cycle, really. Taylor, James, Caroline, Kendall, they didn't last long. Some of them I didn't bother knowing the names because I know he'll be over them in no time." She said, talking to me like I'm a business partner, like I was being part of a deal, and like she's telling me the truth and she knows what's best for me.
I'm not that stupid, Anne. You're gonna have to do better than that.
So I acted like I believed her so she'd think that I'm weak. Thank you, drama class.
