"What's yer name?" Daryl asked as he watched Sam slowly stand up.

"Why should I tell you?" She snapped.

Daryl sighed and walked closer to Sam, who walked backwards until she found herself pressed against a tree.

"'M not gonna hurt ye. I told ye my name, so tell me yours." Daryl spoke gently. He noticed the fear in Sam's eyes. He knew that look all too well. The look she had in her eyes, is the look he gave his father before every beating.

"How do I know you're not gonna hurt me?" Sam asked, not breaking eye contact.

"I coulda let that walker get ye, but I didn't. I saved yer life." Daryl reminded her.

He had a point. He could have just let that, walker as he calls it get her, but he didn't....But maybe that's so he could do things to her.

"That doesn't mean shit. You might wanna have your way with me." She argued.

Daryl's mouth opened in shock and he shook his head and start pacing from left to right a little.

"Ye really think tha'? I know the world has gone ta shit but I would never do tha'. Sure ma brotha would, hell I don't even think he would with ya. I saved yer life. End of story. A thank you wouldn't be much either." Daryl snapped.

Sam sighed and felt bad. He was right, and yeah the world had gone to shit and people had changed, but not everyone is bad...But she didn't know him, it could be a trick. Sam slowly thought her next move. She placed her hand over her belt and felt her knife. She could try and attack him.

She looked to her left.

Or she could run.

She looked to her right to see walkers.

Or she could end everything now.

"Don't even think about it girl. I'll just save ye again." Daryl warned with a slight smirk playing on his lips.

Sam was about to snap at Daryl, but a rustling noise from the bushes caught her attention, she turned her head to the bush and watched it, she looked back to Daryl who had his crossbow rasied. Aimed at the bush, getting ready to kill whatever the threat was.

Suddenly a man with a filthy vest and a leather jacket with the sleeves cut off burst through the bushes.

"Easy baby brotha. Nearly put an arrow through ma head." The man spoke with a slight chuckle.

"Damn Merle. I coulda killed ye." Daryl groaned.

Merle shrugged and turned his head to Sam and raised his eyebrows, and shook his head.

"You got a young one here Darlina." Merle spoke as he began to walk over to Sam. She raised her gun at him and Merle stopped in his tracks. He tilted his head to the side and let out a laugh.

"She's one brave bitch. Ain't nobody points a gun at me and gets away with it." Merle smirked.

"Merle leave her alone." Daryl warned.

Merle turned his head to Daryl and shook his head.

"I ain't gonna try anythin'. I ain't like that...Probably a rug muncher anyway." Merle argued.

"And you're probably right." Sam spoke up with a smirk.

"Oh really?" Merle grinned.

"Mmhmm." Sam said crossing her arms and leaning against the tree.

"My typa girl. We got somethin' in common both like to have a good time with pretty little ladies. If ya know what I mean." Merle winked at Sam, causing her to laugh a little.

"Knock it off Merle." Daryl groaned.

Merle walked back to Daryl and wrapped his arm around him.

"Listen Darlina, me and rug munch-."

"Sam."

"Huh?"

"It's Sam. My name is Sam."

"Right. Anyways baby bro. Me and Sam are gonna be best friends. So why don't you knock it off, and lighten up a little." Merle growled at Daryl.

Sam noticed the way Daryl lost a lot of his confiedence and how he hardly spoke when Merle was around. She felt sorry for him.

"Hey Samantha. Why don't ya come back with us? We got a group." Merle suggested.

She thought for a moment, it had been a long time since she was in a group. The last group she was with, it was when her parents were still alive. Looking to Daryl, she couldn't read his expression.

"Sure. But on one condition."

"What's that?"

"Never call me Samantha again."

"You got it sugar tits." Merle chuckled.

"Watch it Dixon." Sam warned.

Merle raised his hands in surrender and Sam walked over to him and felt herself feel comfortable with the Dixon brothers.

She felt safe.
