"Hey girl." A young boy said to Sam as he tugged on her pants. She looked down and smiled. She knelt down and poked his stomach.

"Hey boy." She smirked.

"I'm Carl." Carl introduced himself and stuck his small out for Sam to take. She gently took it and shook it.

"Sam."

"Sam...I like that name." Carl grinned.

"Thank you Carly. I like your name too." Sam smiled.

"It's Carl." Carl laughed. Sam laughed too and ruffled his hair. Standing up she saw a woman watching them with a smile on her face. She noticed Sam looking and held her hand out. Sam gently took her hand and shook it.

"My name's Lori. Carl's my son. It's been a long time since I've seen him smile like that. Thank you." Lori thanked with a huge smile.

"He's a good kid. Shame he has to be in this messed up world." Sam sighed.

Lori squeezed her arm gently and walked away, Sam turned around and noticed two blonde haired women laughing.

As soon as she walked over the laughter stopped but a smile remained on the younger blonde's face.

"Hi..." Sam said shyly looking away from the young blonde.

What's wrong with me? She thought to herself. She's never been one to shy away from a conversation.

"Hey." The blondes greeted at the same time.

Sam looked at the youngest blonde who was smiling at her. Looking at the other blonde she wasn't smiling. She didn't look annoyed either.

"I'm Amy. That's my sister Andrea." Amy, the youngest blonde introduced herself and her sister.

"I can introduce myself." Andrea glared at her sister playfully.

Sam watched as the two sisters began a playful fight. Amy turned her attention back to Sam and grinned.

"Hey let me introduce you to everyone else." Amy said looping her arm through Sams. Sam shrugged and they began to walk through the camp.

Amy introduced her to Morales and his family, and to a man named Jim, a woman called Jacqui and a man named Theodore, who went by the name T-Dog.

As Amy dragged Sam to the RV, she noticed how her blue eyes sparkled everytime the sun light hit her face. Sam shook her head, remembering what happend the last time she got close to someone...

"I love you. You know that right?" Sam whispered to Riley.

Riley turned her head to face Sam and smiled. She rested her forhead on Sam's and kissed her.

"Of course I know that. And I love you." Riley whispered back.

Little did Sam know...That was a lie.

A week later Sam went to Riley's house. The door was unlocked so she let herself in. There was nobody downstairs but there was noises coming from upstairs. Curious, Sam crept up the stairs and made her way to the source of the noise. Slowly opening Riley's bedroom door she felt her heart break.

"Sam!" Riley gasped as she pushed the girl on top of her, off of her.

Sam just shook her head and ran out of the house.

That was the last time she saw Riley before the world went to shit.

"Sam." Amy waved her hand in front of her, snapping Sam back to reality.

"Sorry." She mumbled.

"It's okay. This is Glenn." Amy introduced her to a young Asian. "And this is Dale." She said putting her arm around a old man.

Dale chuckled and gave Amy a side hug.

They started talking for a few minutes before a man started to yell.

"WHAT DID I TELL YOU?! YA STUPID BITCH!" The man yelled to a young girl.

Sam walked over curiously. She saw a man about to slap who appeared to be his daughter.

"Ed, don't please. She's just a child." A woman who Sam guessed to be his wife begged as she stood in front of the little girl.

"Carol move. She's needs to be punished." He growled.

Carol gently layed her hands on the man's chest trying to calm him down, he was having none of it. He slapped her hard across the face, Sam was about to say something but someone else beat her to it.

"Don't you dare touch her again!" The woman spoke as she roughly pushed the angry man away. This made the man even more angry and he hit the woman across the face, sending her to the ground.

Sam watched as he was about to kick her but Daryl stopped him and tackled him to the ground.

"DON'T YE TOUCH 'ER AGAIN!" He growled as he punched him.

"Daryl get yer stupid ass off him." Merle ordered.

"Ye touch 'er again, yer gonna wish ye were dead." Daryl warned as he gave him one last kick before helping the young woman up.

"That's Ed, his wife Carol and daughter Sophia. Stay away from Ed. Please. I don't want him hurting you." Amy begged as she wrapped her arms around Sam. All Sam could think about in that moment was Riley, she pushed Amy away and ran towards Daryl and Merle.

"You ain't gotta help these people. You don't owe them your protection." Merle snapped at Daryl.

"Yer right. I don't. But I ain't gonna let him abuse people. We both know what tha's like. We never had anyone to protect us, I'm not gonna let them go through tha'." Daryl snapped back.

Merle shook his head and went to say something but he noticed Sam watching. He sat down quietly and watched everyone in the camp.

Sam looked at Daryl who was watching the woman he had helped. She noticed the look in his eyes. Love. He loved her.

"Who was that?" Sam asked curiously. Daryl locked eyes with Sam and shrugged.

"All I know is, her name is Ellie..." Daryl answered.

"And?" Sam asked with a smirk.

"I'm goin' huntin'." Daryl said grabbing his crossbow and walking into the woods.

Merle chuckled to himself and Sam turned her attention to him.

"What?" She asked confused.

Merle looked at Sam with a smirk.

"Ellie and Daryl sitting in a tree...Doing something they shouldn't be. Starts with an "S". Ends in a "X." Oh my God they're having s-."

"Shut up Merle." Sam cut him off, causing Merle to howl with laughter, his laughter soon stopped when Shane had an announement.

"We've decided who will be heading into the city for a supply run." Shane spoke loudly.

"T-Dog." As his name was called out, T-Dog walked over to where Shane was.

"Jacqui." Jacqui gasped but walked over to T-Dog.

"Morales." Morales's family started to cry but Morales held a strong act and hugged his family.

"Andrea." Sam looked over to Andrea and she was hugging Amy who appeared to be crying.

"And lastly. Merle." Merle looked towards the woods and then back to Sam. As Merle stood up she wrapped her arms around him. Sure she had known him a few hours but she cared about him. He and Daryl were like big brothers to her.

"Be safe." She whispered.

Merle hesitated but he patted her back and chuckled lightly.

"Don't you worry. Ol' Merle will be just fine."

Sam let go of him and watched as the group going on the run gathered everything they would need. She saw Glenn setting up a map, and she saw Merle glaring at everyone.

She felt really sad. If Merle didn't make it back, Daryl never got to say goodbye.
