Sam's POV
We had been running, for what felt like days but it had been a few hours. I couldn't stop. I didn't want to stop. Neither did Glenn. The others followed close behind.
We entered a clearing and saw a few dead walkers scattered around.
"Do..Do you think..That they did this?" I ask breathing heavy and Glenn nods his head, also breathing heavy.
I rest my hands on my knees and catch my breath. I look up and watch Glenn as he walks around the walkers, kneeling down to inspect them.
"We'll escort you for another mile or two and then we'll be on our way." Abe said as he walked over and rested his gun against his shoulder, reminding me of what Shane used to do.
"Thought you were going to come with us? Our group was gonna come with you." I say confused.
Abe shakes his head and sighs.
"DC is a couple hundred miles in the other direction. How long will it take until we find your group? A couple miles that way? This way? What if we don't find them?"
"We will!" I say getting angry.
Abe chuckles and squats down, looking down and then looks up at me.
"You have a lot of hope don't you little girl?"
"My girlfriend is out there." I pause and point to Glenn. "His wife is out there. Our family is out there. We're not gonna give up on them. We will find them."
"What if they're dead?" Eugene asks.
"Say that again." I growl aiming my crossbow at him.
"Sam." Glenn warns.
I lower my crossbow and take my locket in between my thumb and finger stroking it.
"It's possible. Maybe your girlfriend is alive, but your wife is dead."
"Eugene." Rosita hisses.
I look at the ground, trying to hide the tears that are about to fall. He has a point. Maybe it is true. Maybe all our family is dead. Glenn is all I have left.
"Let's go." I whisper and begin to walk on the train tracks.
I walk ahead quickly, not wanting them to see me cry. I need to be alone for a while. I can't even imagine my life without Beth..Without Daryl, Ellie or Ava...Merle. My family.
"Hey. Sam." Tara says quickly limping over to me.
"What?"
"Are you okay?"
I lick my bottom lip and let out a laugh.
"My girlfriend could be dead. My family could be dead. No I'm not okay. Just leave me the fuck alone." I snap.
I hear her sigh, but I don't care about anyone elses feelings right now. I just want my girl. I want my family.
I'll do whatever it takes to get them back.
A few hours pass and we reach a dead end. The tracks carry on through a tunnel but it's blocked by some rubble, there's a small gap we'd be able to get through, but the only problem is, what's inside?
"This is where we'll go our seperate ways." Abe announces.
"Thank you." Glenn says and shakes his hand.
"Take care of yourself Sammy." Rosita says and hugs me. I hug her back and give her a small smile.
"I'm coming with you." Tara says as she limps over to me.
"Okay."
I watch as Rosita, Abe and Eugene walk in the opposite direction, I honestly hope they'll be okay.
"You ready?" Glenn asks, I nod my head and turn to face Tara who gets her gun ready.
Glenn leads the way and we climb over the rocks that have fallen, Tara struggles with her ankle so I hold my hand out for her. She takes it looking at me confused. I understand why. I've been a bitch to her and now I'm helping her.
"Shit." Glenn says as he stands at the top of the rocks. "Walkers."
I pull Tara up, but she looses her balance and falls down the other side, some rocks trapping her leg.
"Fuck." I growl and slide down and try and move some rocks, there are too many...And some are heavy.
I hear gun shots and the growls of the walkers getting louder and closer.
"Sam." Tara says but I ignore her, trying to pull the rocks off of her.
"Sam." She repeats louder and grabs my wrist forcing me to stop. "Go."
I shake my head and remove her hand from my wrist. "I'm not leaving you. We're not leaving you."
Glenn appears next to me and begins to help.
"Sam go." Glenn tells me and I stare at him in shock.
"NO! I'M NOT LEAVING ANYONE!! I'M NOT LOSING ANYONE ELSE!!" I yell, anger getting the better of me. I turn around and come face to face with a walker.
It falls on top of me and I bang my head hard on some rocks. I ignore the pain and struggle with the walker.
"Shit. Shit. Shit." Glenn says as he stabs the walker on top of me.
I grab his hand and look at him with tears in my eyes. This is it.
I watch as the walkers stagger closer.
I close my eyes and wait for them to rip me apart but it never comes. Gunfire is what I hear.
Soon it comes to an end and I open my eyes.
Glenn helps me stand up and he looks to the end of a tunnel where bright lights appear, I'm assuming they're headlights of a veichle.
A figure approaches us and I smile.
"Maggie." Glenn whispers and quickly walks over to her. Wrapping his arms around her.
I wait for Beth but she doesn't appear, instead I'm welcomed by a different face.
"Sam."
"Ellie."
I walk over and I hug her tightly as the tears begin to pour down both of our faces.
"Where's Daryl?" I ask her and she shakes her head.
"Baby Ava?"
She shakes her head again and I can tell, her heart is breaking.
"Beth?"
Judging from her face she's not here.
"Merle?"
I feel somone cover my eyes and chuckle.
"Yer ol' pal Merle is right here."
I sigh with relief and turn around and hug him.
My family isn't here...But we're getting closer...Now that I have Ellie and Merle, I have more hope.
I will find my family. I'm sure of it.
