As Ellie cried, Sam grew more angry. She quickly stood up and stormed after Daryl. She knew exactly where he would be.
The guard tower.
She walks outside, the sun blinding her for a few seconds. She sees a movement in the nearest guard tower and she walks towards it. She opens the door and storms up the stairs.
"Dixon." She growls.
Daryl turns around and sighs and runs a hand through his hair.
"Daryl look at me." She orders.
Daryl keeps his eyes focused on the walkers outside.
"FUCKING LOOK AT ME DARYL DIXON!!" Sam yells causing Daryl to jump.
He turns around to face Sam, and he has tears running down his face, very rare to see tears from Daryl.
"I can't be a Dad...Not after wha' I've been through..."
"You can. We're safe now. You're nothing like your Dad. You're a kind and amazing man."
"Ye know about ma dad?"
"You had nightmares.."
They remain in silence and Daryl sits down and plays with one of his arrows.
Sam sits next to him and puts her hand on top of his.
"Talk to Ellie, Daryl...You have to talk about this and...The options you have."
Daryl nods his head and stands up, he looks around and Sam stands up.
"I'll take over watch." She smiles.
Daryl nods his head and grabs crossbow and leaves.
Sam smiles to herself and watches the walkers, limping, staggering like a hoard of drunken teens coming home from a house party.
She fingers the locket around her neck and images of Shane shoot through her mind...She thinks of what his last moments were like. A single tear rolls down her face.
She didn't get to tell him a bunch of things.
She didn't get to call him Dad, she wanted to...But she was scared.
She never told him that she loved him.
She never got to say goodbye.
She quickly wipes away the tear and pushes her hair behind her ears and lets out a deep breath.
"You okay?" Beth asks walking over to Sam.
Sam nods her head and Beth sits down, Sam following.
"Don't worry, we don't have to pretend anymore...Riley knows we were just pretending."
"Okay." Beth shrugs.
Sam fiddles with her fingers. She turns to face Beth who is looking outside.
Sam feels all these mixed feelings. She's tense, she has butterflies and she feels shy, she has the urge to kiss Beth.
"Beth..?" Sam whispers.
"Mmm?" Beth hums.
Sam knee walks so she's kneeling in front of Beth. She cups her face and slowly leans in, she stops to see Beth's reaction, her eyes flicker down to Beth's lips and she continues to lean in, her lips touching Beth's felt like fireworks. She felt happy.
Beth wraps her arms around Sam's neck and kisses back slowly.
Sam pulls away and rests her forhead on Beth's.
"I thought we could stop pretending?"
"I wasn't." Sam whispers.
Beth slowly smiles and pecks Sam's lips.
"Good."
Sam feels like she's dreaming, this beautiful girl she didn't want to get close to, who she didn't want anything to do with had somehow managed to steal her heart and here they were...Kissing.
Sam stands up and pulls Beth up aswell.
"We should see how Daryl and Ellie got on." Sam says holding Beth's hand and walking out of the guard tower and back inside the prison.
They hold hands and everyone smiles at them, even Maggie this time. They walk to Ellie's cell and quickly turn around again.
Ellie was on Daryl's knee having a full on make out session.
"Sam. Can we talk?" Rick asks walking over hands on his hips.
"Sure." Sam growls.
What does this asshole want now? She thinks as she follows Rick outside.
