Nine Months Later
It has been nine months since the farm got over run, and nine months the group have been searching for shelter. They had gone from house to house, but every time they were about to settle down the dead found them.
They were currently in a house, they had been there for a few hours. The longest they had settled down.
Daryl was sat in a corner, ripping the feathers off an owl he caught.
Carl was about to open a can of food, Rick snatched it from his hands. He looked at what it was. His face expression turned into one of disgust and threw the can into the fire place.
Rick and Lori haven't been the same since the farm. They have grown apart.
Lori was about to pop the baby out any day now. The group are keen to find some place safe to stay. Being on the run with a baby....It was like a dinner bell just ready to be rung for the walkers.
Ellie notices something out of the window. She walks over and peeks through the curtains.
"Walkers." She alerts everyone.
Everyone grabbed their things quickly and made their way out of the back door.
They ran and they ran, until it was dark. They set up camp near a clearing. The fire had been lit and everyone was sat around it. Trying to keep warm.
Rick stood on top of a van and looked around. His jaw dropped and he put his hands behind his head and started to laugh.
"What's funny?" Glenn asks wrapping his arm around Maggie.
Rick jumped down from the van and smiled.
"We found home. Behind this fencing there is a prison. Tomorrow at first light we will take the courtyard. Then we'll see what it'll be like inside. This...This is what we've been waiting for. A home. A safe place." He says.
Everyone nods their heads and they begin to eat little food they have.
Rick gives half is food to Lori and the other to Carl. He walks back to the van and climbs up. He scopes out the area a smile on his face.
Until there's a noise that sounds like a walker not far from them.
"What was that?" Carol says holding Sophia.
Rick jumps down and looks at the group and shakes his head.
"You all need to calm down...Maybe it was a possum or something."
"A possum doesn't make that noise Rick. Do something!" Lori snaps at him.
"Me? I should do something? You all need to do something. This world has ended. It's gone. It's not the way it used to be. I'm trying my best here. To keep this group alive. I had to kill my best friend to keep you safe!" Rick says angrily.
Sam stands up and she looks at Rick confused.
"You killed Shane?" She whispers slowly walking over to him.
"I had to..He was going to kill me.." Rick replied sadly
Sam quickens her pace and lunges at him. She hits his chest and tears fall from her eyes.
"YOU KILLED SHANE!!! YOU KILLED MY DAD!!! I FUCKING HATE YOU!!!" She yells at him as she continues to punch him.
Rick grabs her arms and stops her from hitting him anymore. She slaps him across the face and walks away. She walks into the woods and calms herself down.
She wipes her eyes and leans against a tree. She fingers the locket. She holds it in her hand and kisses it.
She closes her eyes and slowly sits down against the tree. Someone sits next to her, she doesn't bother opening her eyes. She knows it's Beth.
Beth rests her head on Sam's shoulder and Sam puts her arm around Beth.
"Tomorrow, we'll be safe. That prison will be ours and we can finally have some normality in our life." Beth whispers.
"I hope you're right."
