Sam opened her eyes slowly and looked around. It was still light outside, she thought she slept much longer than she did. She sighed and rested her arms behind her head. She started to think about her life before the dead started walking. She didn't miss that life. She did however want to go back. Sure it wasn't exactly sunshine and rainbows but it was better when the dead stayed dead.

Looking to her right, she noticed Amy wasn't next to her. Confused she sat up, and just as she did that, Amy barged in with a plate in her hands and a smile on her face.

"Good morning." She sang.

"Morning?" Sam asked confused.

Amy giggled softly and nodded her head. She handed Sam the plate who eyed the food with disgust.

"It tastes better than it looks." Amy reassured.

Sam shrugged and slowly ate whatever it was. It didn't taste like chicken, but it wasn't awful either.

"You must have been tired. You slept the rest of the day yesterday, and slept all night." Amy smiled.

Sam finished her food quickly and raised her eyebrows in surprise.

"So it's the next day?" She asked.

"Mmmhmm." Amy hummed and nodded her head.

Sam quickly jumped out of bed and handed Amy the plate and made her way outside. She looked for Daryl but couldn't find him. She felt her heart quicken and she started breathing quickly.

Daryl was dead. He hadn't come back.

"You alright Sam?" Dale asked putting a hand on her shoulder.

She didn't hear him. She couldn't speak.

"Sam?" Dale asked louder.

Sam started to shake. Tears filled her eyes. She fell to her knees, staring straight ahead.

"SAM!" Shane yelled running over to her.

He dropped to his knees in front of her and cupped her face.

"Sam. Sam calm down. Look at me." He spoke gently.

She looked into his eyes and felt comfort. Her breathing slowed down and once she had calmed down she wrapped her arms around Shane.

"He's dead." She whispered.

"Who is?" He asked confused as he wrapped his arms around her.

"Daryl." She replied, her voice breaking slightly.

"What makes you say that?"

"It's the next day. He isn't back."

Shane pulled away chuckling slightly. He pushed some of her hair behind her ear.

"As much as I hate the douchebag Dixons, they are a pair of tough bastards. Knowing Daryl, he's probably tracking down some damn deer. He'll be alright Sam. But you shouldn't have to worry about him. Just because he saved you, doesn't mean you have to worry about him." Shane said.

Sam shook her head. She couldn't be bothered to argue with him. She looked around and noticed some of the people in camp had stopped what they were doing and were watching what was happening. Some looked at her with concern, others looked at her like she was crazy.

Amy knelt down beside her and wrapped an arm around her. Sam leaned against Amy and sighed.

"Hey, ever since we've been here and I need alone time I go down to the lake. Why don't we go there for a few hours?" Amy offered.

"Whatever." Sam mumbled standing up. She held her hand out and helped Amy up. Amy smiled at her and Sam looked away.

"Come on. Let's go." Amy spoke gently as she grabbed Sam's arm and pulled her along as they walked to the lake.

Sam felt stupid. Stupid for caring about a stupid redneck that had only saved her life once. Shane was right. She didn't have to worry about him. She shouldn't worry. It was a one time thing. She was sure of it.
