Chapter Ten : "Reunited"

 Two days have passed and we finally made it to our destination , we decided to build a camp next to a forest and a lake , it's a very suitable area especially if we wanna hide from the aliens. I'm fully recovered now and I'll be back at patrol later with Allison.

 I was in the bus with Matt and Dad , he is still sleeping and Matt is talking to me about the possibility that the fish heads have done something to Dad.

 "What if they did something?" Matt asked.

 "We're not sure Matt. But he's been here for 5 days now and nothing is still happening , maybe he's okay" I told him and then patted his head. I can see the worry in his eyes.

 "How can you be so sure?" he asked.

 "I just know" I told him and then left the bus. After I got out , I went to see Jimmy in his tent. "Are we going to hunt later?" I asked him.

 "Yes" he replied.

 "You're still reading that manga?" I asked him.

 "Yeah .. it's cool. You can read those too" he said and then pointed at them . Then I heard Hal calling my name outside , "I'll just come back later" I told Jimmy and then left.

 "What?" I asked Hal as soon as I got to him.

 "Your time to patrol"

 "Okay" I said and then left him there.

Allison's P.O.V

 I was eating when I saw Ben coming towards me , "You ready?" he asked. "Why?"

 "We're going to patrol" he said.

 "But we weren't supposed to be out until 5" I said and then continued eating my bean soup . "I know , but Dad organized a dinner on the bus tonight. We'll continue fighting tomorrow when Dad's fully recovered but for tonight he wants us to have dinner together" he then said to me.

 "All of us?"

 "Just us Masons , Captain Weaver , Anne , Maggie , Anthony , Dai , Lourdes & you" he said and then sat beside me.

 "I'm finished" I said and then got up and went to get my gun. He then followed me.

 Allison and I will do patrol 5 miles south which is 3 miles away from the perimeter lines. "Why do you still want me to be your partner?" Allison asked. I knew she's still second guessing herself and her position here.

 "You have great potential and as I if I have any choice" I said and then smiled at her. But her attention is on something else , when we reached a cliff on the side , she looked down to the group of skitters and harnessed kids below.

 She then brought out her binoculars and looked at them. She misses her brother , "Ben! Look!" she said and then shoved me her binoculars.

 "What is it?" I asked and she then pointed at the blond kid with blue shirt carrying copper wires. "That's him" she said , her voice cracking up .. she's about to cry.

 I looked at the skitters around him and they weren't really paying any attention to him , it will be really easy to just grab him. "I'm gonna go get him" she said and before I could grab her hand she already made her way down on the side of the cliff. I ran as fast as I could to catch up to her and when I was successful to , I told her to "wait a minute .. we should plan about it".

 "But Ben .. my brother is right there" she whispered.

 "I know , but if we go down there they will see us. We must make a plan first" I said to her. And thankfully she listened, we took cover behind some big rocks and just waited until they are about to leave.

 After about an hour or so , they are leaving . The skitter lined them up with Cody being the tallest, located at the very back. Just one wrong move and we'll be in trouble. I told Allison to keep hiding and I will get him and so she did.

 I slowly made my way near to him , the skitter is still talking to another group .. it's back is facing us. "What the hell" I thought to myself and just grabbed him and covered his mouth. All humans have a muscle in their shoulder that if pressed really hard , it could make us unconscious and so I did it to him.

 I dragged him back to our hiding place and slowly made our way to the top, I looked at Allison and saw how happy she is that she's with her brother.

 Just before we reach teh top of the cliff, I can hear the skitter noises below. I looked down and saw them looking at us , and they charged towards Allison and I.

 "Quick!" I told her and then helped Cody up into the land. After I was able to climb up I started shooting at the skitters below , there are 5 of them. What's worst is , the harnessed kids are trying to climb up too, I can't shoot them.

Allison's P.O.V

 I was able to get Cody to safety , but now the skitters are after us. "Take him back to the camp, I'll just follow" Ben said while shooting at the skitters below.

 "I can't leave you here Ben"

 "Go! Now!" he shouted through all the noise of the gunshots. Then I heard the ground started to shake , the mechs must be here. Ben was able to kill all the skitters that's why he pulled back and lifted Cody on his back.

 "Let's go" he said and we started running. I turned around and saw the Mechs have jumped their way up to the cliff. They're starting to follow us.

 I don't know how long we're running and how many times we tried to dodge the explosions and the bullets. I got bruises and Ben is wounded too. "Mechs!!" Ben shouted and Pope and the other soldiers came to our rescue.

 We didn't stopped running until we got inside the bus. After he layed Cody down , he went out again to help fight the skitters. "Ahhh!!" he shouted while shooting them and after a few minutes , the mechs are destroyed.

 Ben came back to the bus and asked me if we're alright. "Yes" I said. Then Anne, Mr. Mason , Captain Weaver, Hal, Maggie, Matt and Lourdes came into the bus.

 "What the hell are you two up to?" Mr. Mason asked.

 "We found her brother" Ben said and then looked at Cody.
