Chapter Thirty Four : "Wrong Impression"

 My relationship with Allison is better , well at least I think it is. I told her to stay away from Karen because she's dangerous. We already talked about some things that are going on between us but we really just can't agree even on one single thing.

 She and everyone else are on the other parts of this hospital while I am guarding Karen on her cage. It's all I can do to prevent her from hurting anyone.

 "So what happened after you got rescued?" Karen asked while eating her 10th bowl of chicken rice. "Nothing much , just got discriminated by almost everyone in the 2nd Mass" I said.

 "How about your baby with that girl? Is she a boy or a girl?"

 "I don't feel like talking about it .. Karen" I said to her and then added "You know , 3 days after you took my Dad. Your forces attacked us in the school .. we're like ducks trying to escape a pack of lions. Hundreds of innocent people have died"

 "Uncle Scott?"

 "He's dead too. I saw his body got torn apart while he's trying to save a group ofs kids pinned down by the skitters"

 "I didn't want it to happen Ben"

 "It's EXACTLY what you want" I told her. If only I could kill her right now , I would. This is the chance I'm waiting for. But unfortunately, I can't. They will know I was the one who did it.

 "It's that really what you think. I thought you will be able to understand me. Ben, I regret everything I did. I'm sure you have an idea on how it feels like to lose control over your body. To watch yourself kill innocent people .. you want to stop , but you can't" she said.

 I just looked at her and suddenly everything changed. I saw the pain in her eyes , the remorse she's feeling and all that.

 "Of course" I said after a few moments.

 "Can you get me another bowl? I still wanna eat" she said and then put the bowl in front of the window. I got up and then took it.

 "You can believe whatever you wanna believe Ben , but please use your heart .. it's me .. just me , I'm not connected to them" she said. Then I turned around and walked away , unaware that she's smiling at me.

Allison's P.O.V

 As soon as I saw Ben leave his post , I quickly stepped in to talk to Karen. "Hey" I said to her and then she looked at me and smiled.

 "You must be Allison"

 "How did you know?"

 "I heard Maggie calling out your name. You are also pregnant with Ben's child .. Am I right?" she then asked.

 "Yeah" I said.

 "So what do you want?"

 "What's your deal Karen? Whenever I look in your eyes I see nothing but pure evil"

 "Oh so you don't believe me as well?. Allison, I'm sorry and I promise you I'm not connected to them anymore" she said and then got up and walked to me.

 "Stay away" I told her and so she backed a bit. "How's the pregnancy? , I assume you already felt something weird about it"

 "What do you mean?" I asked.

 "You'll find out when the time comes" she said and smiled at me. Suddenly, I heard footsteps walking towards our direction so I have to end our conversation.

 "This is not over yet" I said and then ran away and hid on the nearby room. As soon as I got in , I suddenly felt dizzy .. I felt like my heart just skipped a beat, I can't breathe properly. The last thing I can remember is falling to the floor and everything just went black.

 "Here it is" I said and then gave her the bowl. She was silent for a few more minutes so I decided to fix all my weapons.

 "Ben?" she then asked.

 "What?"

 "Lots of things have changed since I got harnessed. And I can't change any of them now. I did things that I never wanted to do. I'm not asking you to forgive me , all I'm asking is for you to understand."

 I was speechless for a second. She feels the exact same way that I did back when I first got rescued. I don't know what to say, for the first time since she came back .. she sounded genuine.

 "Okay" I said.

 "But it's not all that bad Ben. I'm sure you have super human abilities now. They're very helpful especially when it comes to fighting"

 "It is"

 "I also heard about the Rebel Skitters"

 "What?" I asked and then got up.

 "Easy. I suppose you know how it feels like to have enhanced hearing right?" she asked. She's right , I can hear things a mile away from here , of course she'll hear our conversations.

 "Yeah"

 "I wanna join"

 "I'm not sure that's a good idea"

 "Oh okay. But once I gained your trust , will you let me join?"

 "Of course" I said and then she smiled at me. I smiled back at her.
