Chapter 82: Fear

"If you're as good of a rapper as you say in your interviews, then come to the battle tonight."

-Mino read the message on his from that came from Yuki as he and Taehyun drove to the SM building. Mino felt uneasy reading the message.

I know about this battle far too well. It happens every 4 years and it's considered the most important battle for every underground rapper. 4 years ago, I wanted to join it, but during that time, the auditions for YG were starting...

I have a song that's ready now, but I would have to sing the chorus and I'm not sure I can do that. I remember asking Taeyang to help me out so I can sing it, but... it didn't really work out. I still suck at singing it

-Mino thought to himself and sighed

"We're here." -The driver said and Mino drifted back from his thoughts. He and Taehyun entered the building and had trouble finding the office. Suddenly, they saw a blonde girl standing alone, with her back turned

Maybe she's the secretary.

Taehyun approached her and was about to ask her something, until the girl turned around.

Wendy?!

Both of them were motionless until Mino cracked a joke and they started laughing

"Wendy!" -Mino said and hugged her

"Hi! I missed you! I never got a chance to talk to any of you at the music shows." -She said. Mino just glanced at Taehyun

"Oh..." -Wendy said when he realized why they've been avoiding her

"What are you doing here alone? Where's the staff?" -Mino asked

"The CEO told them to have the rest of the day off and asked me to wait for some special guests. I'm guessing it's you two." -She said and Taehyun chuckled

"Of course..." -Mino said bitterly and Taehyun nodded. Wendy seemed confused

"Where is he now?" -Taehyun asked

"In his office. Follow me." -Wendy said and started walking towards one of the many rooms in the building. She knocked and opened the door

"Sir, they're here." -She said and then they heard him invite them in.

"Wendy, you go and wait for the other guests." CEO Young-nim said and Wendy nodded. Taehyun and Mino exchanged looks

"What other guests?" -Taehyun asked and Young-nim chuckled bitterly

"Well, you're not the only ones perfoming on that special stage, right?" -He said

"But why did you invite us seperately?" -Mino asked

"I wanted to test you. Irene was supposed to wait for you two, along with Wendy, but she's in the hospital." -Young-nim said

"What happened to her?" -Mino asked in concern

"That shouldn't be any of your concern. But, to answer your question, she's okay. It's just a check up." -Young-nim said and Mino looked at him bitterly
