Jasper's Mate
Bella watched Jasper along with the others and the wolves as Jasper started telling them about the newborns. It amazes Bella slightly with the amount of information Jasper had about them. Bella barely ever saw him talk or be around her unless it was a family celebration or something that concerned the family. This was the first time she actually saw him talk for more than just a minute or two.
   "Go into pairs." Jasper told the Cullens. "Let's see how you guys go on first try."

They were in the middle of training after trying to win a spar with Jasper, when Alice told them to stop, the wolves standing up immediately from their laid position.
   "What is it, Alice?" Carlisle asked concerned. "Is it Victoria and her army?"
   "N-no - I don't know." she stuttered, still staring into the future. "A vampire is heading her way - she heard us fighting. We have just five minutes."
   "We need to get ready -" Edward started to say.
   "No." Jasper interrupted them suddenly. Everyone stared at him bewildered.
   "Jasper," Edward said through gritted teeth, "this vampire might be with Vic-"
   "What does she look like, Alice?" Jasper asked the little pixie-like vampire. "What does the vampire look like?" Alice stared off into the distance.
   "Black raven hair," she said distantly, "red eyes -" Edward and the wolves growled at the news of red eyes, "I can see something. . .a. . .locket? There's a gold locket bouncing off her chest while running - shaped as a heart. It's really obvious -"
   "She's not dangerous." Jasper said immediately. Everyone gave him confused looks. "I know her. She's not dangerous."
   "What - how -" Rosalie said.
   "I called her." Jasper said, a smile starting to form on his face. "We needed help, yes? Why not someone who was by my side during the newborn days?"
   "But Peter and Charlotte -" Emmett said.
   "Like I said, they couldn't come." Jasper interrupted. He looked at everyone in the eyes with a serious look -more serious than the usual- including looking into Bella's and the wolves eyes. "But Natalie can make it. She can help us; she was second-in-command with me."
   "How come we've never heard of this, 'Natalie'?" Alice asked him. "You never even told me. And I'm your best friend."
   "I just assumed you knew." Jasper frowned. "With you looking into the future and all." From beside Bella, Edward released a gust of air from his nose and chuckled. Bella and the others stared at him confused.
   "Makes sense." Edward nodded to Jasper. Jasper nodded in return.
   "What?" Esme asked them.
   "The reason why he hasn't told any of us about her is because he hasn't seen her in centuries." Edward explained. "From what I can see in his mind, Natalie left the newborn battles to save her life from being killed by Maria."
   "Maria?" Bella echoed. "Who's that?"
   Before anyone could tell her - or even say anything, the sound of footsteps could be heard coming from their right. They immediately tensed up, while Jasper simply walked towards the noise. In a blink of an eye, Jasper was embracing someone into a tight hug. Bella peered around Edward's body -who stood in front of her protectively- and tried to get a glimpse of Natalie. From where she stood, Jasper's figure blocked her way from seeing the mysterious vampire, but she could only notice the woman's pale arms wrapped around Jasper's waist. Bella heard Alice give a sigh of sadness, making Bella give her a sad smile. Alice had once confessed to her about having a crush on Jasper for a while. Bella asked why they weren't together, Alice saying that they were not meant to be. "We have this thing called mates," Alice had told her, "they are the only ones we can be with. Jasper and I are not mates. We don't get the familiar pull to each other. But nonetheless, I have formed a crush on him."
   "Natalie. . ." Jasper breathed out, pulling away from her to give her a wide smile. He lifted a hand up and caresses the side of her face. "It's been so long."
   "It has, Major." came her Southern accent, the sound of chime bells. "It's been way too long."
   "It's nice to see you again." Jasper said. "I missed you." he admitted quietly. "It's been hard without you."
   "And I you."
   Emmett cleared his throat to get their attention, a confused look on his face. "Er, hi we're still here." he said, waving a hand. "Along with wolves who are our enemies. Anytime you guys wanna tell us what is going on?"
   "Everyone," Jasper turned to them all, wrapping an arm around Natalie's waist, bringing her close to his side, "this is Natalie. My mate."
   Everyone stared at them in disbelief. "Mate?" Esme repeated. "Why -"
   "I made her leave the newborn army for her safety." Jasper told them. "Her life was on thin ice. Maria wanted to kill her so she could have full control over me."
   "I still have no idea what is going on." Bella admitted quietly. Natalie turned her red eyes to Bella. Bella couldn't help but hide further behind Edward's back at the sight of her scary red eyes that reminded her greatly of James and how he almost killed her.
   "You must be the human Jasper was talking about." she drawled out. "Quite interesting, really."
   "Um, how about we call it a day?" Carlisle suggested, turning to the wolves who were watching everything. "Obviously there's some things my family and I need to discuss." he told them.
   "Should've listened to Peter when he said to tell your family about me." Bella heard Natalie say when they were making their way back to the Cullen house.
   "How could I talk about you when all it did was give me pain at the reminder of you being gone from my life for centuries?" Bella heard Jasper reply. Bella couldn't help but be amazed at the new side of Jasper she had never seen before; the side of him being more talkative and showing his true emotions.
