The Silent but Powerful Couple
When they came to the school, not only were they the most beautiful creatures that they ever saw, or how mysterious they were; out of all of them, the most mysterious ones were Jasper Whitlock and Ashley Cullen.
They were silent, and always stuck together. If you see one of them, you'd see the other one either at their side or nearby - the latter not so much. They were always seen having some sort of physical contact with each other. It would be holding hands, arms around the waist or shoulders - and those rare kisses in public. Some called them the power couple because of how strong their love was for each other - or were better known as The Silent but Powerful Couple.
You could see it clearly on Jasper's face that he adored her. The way he'd look at her like she was the only woman in the room, or if they were apart, he'd always be watching her, making sure she was okay. And it was the same for her. Frequently people would see Jasper looking to be in pain, and when that happens, Ashley would swoop in and wrap her arms around him, and plant a kiss on his cheek. They'd then see him relax, the look of pain fading away when he looks down at her. Everyone just wished for that kind of love.
And not only was Bella Swan amazed by their love, she was also curious about them.

"So. . ." Bella stared up at her ceiling, Edward lying beside her but keeping his distance. "Tell me about your family. Where did they come from? What time era? Powers?"
And so, Edward explained to the curious human about his family, Jasper and Ashley being the last couple to talk about.
"Jasper and Ashley. . ." Edward smiled at the mention of them, staring into space. "They're a special couple."
"No kidding." Bella scoffed, looking at him. "They are called, 'The Silent but Powerful Couple' at school."
"Really?" Edward looked genuinely surprised. "I didn't know that. Surprisingly."
"Us humans have never seen them talk to anyone except to each other and your siblings." Bella explained to him. "Everyone is curious about them. They're very mysterious - more mysterious than you and the others."
"Those two," Edward started quietly, "were brought up differently than the rest of us. They went through some hard days when they were turned, and the two keep each other balanced." He shook his head. "I can't tell you their story, since it's their own business, but all I can say is they love each other. A lot. They're soul mates. There would be no one else."
"You can't tell me anything else?" Bella pressed curiously. Edward chuckled at her curiosity.
"The look of pain on Jasper's face? That's him holding back from killing everyone."
"What!" Bella choked on her breath. Edward guffawed at her reaction. "Seriously?"
"We're vampires, Bella." he said seriously. "What do you expect?"
"But you and the others -"
"Jasper is still trying to get used to the new diet; it's taking a toll on him. The reason why he's even at school is because the only thing that can hold him back from his bloodlust is Ashley. Like I said," he stood up, heading to the window to leave when he noticed it was getting late, "they balance each other." He turned to her quickly. "Oh, and one more thing before you meet my family; don't expect Jasper and Ashley to talk much or even be near you. Just for your safety." Bella didn't like that; she wanted to meet them and get to know them. Instead, they were keeping their distance because of her. And for that, she felt guilty for bringing more stress on the couple

Two years later. . .
Bella listened intently to Jasper's story of being a newborn, and how different he was raised as a vampire. He had went through so much.
Alice came by, and added her part in the story of being at that diner in Philadelphia. What confused Bella was that there was no mention of Ashley.
"What about Ashley?" she asked them. "When did you meet her?"
"Ashley. . ." Jasper's face broke out into a genuine, happy smile. "She lightened my world as soon as I met her." Jasper turned his gaze to his mate, who was playfully wrestling Emmett, Edward jumping in with a laugh. "We were in Alaska, meeting the Denali coven. . ."

"Carlisle!" Eleazar greeted happily. "So glad to see you and the family. I see you have a new addition?"
"Right you are." Carlisle smiled at him and his coven. "Everyone, this is Jasper Whitlock and Alice. Alice, Jasper, this is the Denali coven." They shook hands and shared introductions politely.
"Where's Carmen?" Edward asked them. "I see she's not here with us."
"We also have a new addition to the coven." Eleazar told them with a small smile. "Carmen decided to take her out for a hunt."
"When was she turned?" Carlisle asked them.
"Only just a month ago today." Kate told them. "She's very fragile still. Trying to wrap her head around all this."
"Ah," Carlisle and the others nodded in understanding, while Jasper looked around with narrowed eyes, feeling two emotions. He guessed it was 'Carmen' and the newborn.
Footsteps came from the right, making them all turn. Carmen stood there looking her usual beautiful self, while the person with her was hiding their identity with a hood. Jasper could feel her sadness and anger, along with confusion.
"Carmen," Eleazar smiled at his wife, "glad to see you and Ashley safe."
"Always." Carmen planted a kiss on his cheek. She turned to Jasper and Alice. "Nice to meet you two, I am Carmen."
"I'm Alice!" Alice said happily. "This is my friend, Jasper."
"Ashley dear, why don't you introduce yourself?" Carmen told the silent girl gently. Ashley threw back her hood, revealing black hair that shone in the small sunlight. She lifted her head up, showing her eyes that were still turning to the topaz eyes.
But Jasper didn't care about that; he felt something deep within him that he had never felt before. It was a warm feeling inside his stomach, and for the first time in forever, he felt light and peaceful. He could feel a warm tingling sensation going through his veins - for a moment he thought his dead heart came back to life for a moment before dying again. It was a very good feeling despite it all.
"I'm Ashley." Ashley said quietly, her alto voice pulling Jasper more into her grasp. He could distinctly hear Alice giggle in joy, Edward chuckling in amusement.
"Nice to meet you," Jasper choked out, gaining her attention, "I'm Jasper Whitlock."
Ashley's eyes widened when they landed on his eyes; he could feel her emotions going to shock, awe, and love. All negative emotions from before vanished from her body. Could it be? Could it be love? His mate?
Jasper slowly made his way to her, while also being aware of being watched by the others. He held a hand out to stroke her cheek, but hesitated. Ashley raised her hand up and cupped his face, wonder and awe on her face. As soon as she touched him, the two both felt a feeling of completeness, and content. It was official; Jasper found his true mate.

"Her presence, or just merely seeing her brought peacefulness to me, and comfort." Jasper recalled. He sent a loving look in Ashley's direction. "I still do."
"Love at first sight." Alice said wistfully, leaning her head on his shoulder. "Something I hope to have soon."
"Don't worry, Alice." Ashley suddenly appeared on Alice's side, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "You'll find yours soon. I can feel it." She then turned her attention to Jasper. "Major." she greeted.
"My love," he smirked at the sight of her looking bashful at his nickname for her, "did you beat Emmett in that wrestle with Edward?"
"Heck yeah we did." Ashley snorted, moving to him and wrapping her arms around his waist. "Edward and I make a good team." She gave them a smile. "What were you all talking about?"
"When you all met." Bella spoke up. She was still trying to wrap her mind around the fact that this was the second time she ever saw Ashley look peaceful and happy. First time was during their baseball game before the whole James incident. Bella noticed that Ashley liked doing something sporty along with the other vampires.
"Ah. . ." Ashley smiled up at her mate lovingly, "best day ever."
"Same." Jasper agreed. His smile faltered, hand brushing away a strand of hair away from Ashley's face. "I don't know what I would have done with my life if it wasn't for her." Jasper whispered. "She and Alice saved me from my horrible past."
"And you don't have to go back to it." Ashley smiled up at him, eyes gleaming. "You're not leaving my side, Mister."
"Wouldn't have it any other way." Jasper leaned down, giving her a passionate kiss. Alice appeared at Bella's side, smiling at her gently.
"Come on," Alice whispered, leading the human away, "let's give them some privacy."
Bella looked back at the couple one last time before leaving the two alone. She smiled at their love, feeling glad that she got to know them more and got them to talk to her more. She finally saw the other side of The Silent but Powerful Couple.
