Jasper Whitlock

"I promise"
The Cullens and the shape shifters all worked together, learning how to kill a newborn for the battle that was coming soon. So far, everything was okay.

Until they smelt it.

"Someone is coming." Edward announced, reading Sam Uley's thoughts. "They can smell a vampire."
   "Do you think it's one of the newborns in the battle?" Bella asked concerned.
   "Either way, I am not letting the newborn hurt you." Edward told her. Rosalie rolled her eyes from a distance.
   They all stood in a line together, ready to meet the danger ahead. Edward made sure Bella was behind him, Jacob nearby. "It's a woman." Alice told them, looking into the future. "She's coming close."
   "Get ready." Jasper warned them. They waited thirty more seconds, when the newborn came. But the thing was, Bella knew who that newborn was.
   "Anna?" Bella gasped. Said woman stood before them, gasping as if she was underwater and needed oxygen. "Oh my God. . ."
   "She's thirsty." Edward said, crouching in front of Bella protectively. He went to attack, only for Jasper to stand in front of him.
   "Wait!" Jasper cautioned. "There's something wrong."
   "What do you mean?" Carlisle asked him. The wolves behind them growled impatiently, wanting to destroy the danger.
   "I know her." Bella told them, making her way to the newborn. But Alice stopped her, shaking her head.
   "She's a vampire." Alice explained. "She's thirsty."
   "She's my friend." Bella protested. "She won't hurt me." Bella started making her way to her friend again.
   "No!" she choked out, taking steps away from her. "Stay back!" Jasper stood in front of Anna protectively, startling them all.
   "Bella, I suggest you go back to Edward." Jasper said calmly. "I'll sort this out."
   "But -" she protested.
   "Bella," he held his hand up sternly, "I've dealt with this before. I promise you she'll be okay."

Jasper led Anna far away from Bella and the others, isolating them. He watched as she choked on air, desperately needing a feed. From what he could deduce from her, she was changed by surprise, and left before anything else could happen. Now she was alone and scared, being a monster.
   "Anna." Jasper called to her calmly. "I want you to close your eyes." She did as she was told. "Good, good. . ." He took a couple steps away from her. "Take a deep breath in. What can you smell?"
   Anna took an inhale, her bright red eyes snapping open when she smelt a buck nearby. "Go get it." Jasper whispered. And away she went.

She wiped her face with the water in the stream, while also analysing her reflection. She couldn't remember much, but she did know that she was friends with Bella and trusted her, and that she was ambushed while making her way to surprise Bella. They were friends back in Phoenix, the only friend Bella had. And they were basically sisters.
   Jasper slowly approached her, sitting beside her still form. "Impressive skills you got for tracking that buck down so quickly." he told her quietly. She merely nodded. "I'm Jasper Whitlock."
   "Anna Rose." she said quietly, her voice a sultry alto. "Why am I -"
   "You got changed." Jasper told her. "You're now a vampire. Do you remember if you've gotten attacked or anything recently?"
   "I was going to surprise Bella by coming to Forks when. . .someone jumped in front of my car." Anna explained slowly. "Next thing I know. . .pain."
   "I see." he nodded with pursed lips. "Do you remember what the person looked like?"
   "Red hair." was all she said. Victoria, he thought darkly. "What am I going to do now? I'm a danger to humans - what am I going to do about my parents?"
   "Anna, trust me, everything will be okay." Jasper told her. She looked up at him through her lashes. "You promise?"
   "I promise." Jasper promised.
