His Happily Ever After
Gossip went around Forks High about the two new girls; Chief Swan's two daughters. They were all excited to see the two. It's not everyday they get new people in town - well, apart from the Cullen family.
Said family walked into the cafeteria, earning glances and whispers like usual. Jasper walked behind Rosalie, Emmett and Alice, focussing on holding his breath from the humans. Jasper hated how weak he was, how he still struggled with his thirst and was always the one that slipped. He hated feeling like a burden to the family. All the time he would be watched by a family member, making sure he didn't slip. He hated it, and was certain he would never get a happily ever after.
Distracted with his depressing thoughts, he wasn't watching where he was looking and bumped into something - well, someone. Surprised, he accidentally took a breath in through his mouth. He immediately felt the panic come from not only his family members and himself, but also from someone he couldn't see. Instead of feeling the need to devour everyone, a feeling of peace came over him. He took a deep breath in, smelling a scent that just soothed him. Jasper hadn't felt peace in such a long time, he couldn't help but feel emotional because for once, he felt like a normal human, with not the need of killing someone. He opened his eyes and peered down at the person that he bumped into, and saw it was one of the new girls. Their eyes connected, and Jasper felt a pull deep inside him. He found himself lost in her eyes, finding her to be the most beautiful thing ever seen. He then knew it. He found his soulmate. He snapped out of his daze and held a hand out for her to take. She willingly grabbed his hand, startled at how cold his hand was. He easily lifted her back up, still holding her hand. They continued to stare at each other, ignoring the stares they were given. Jasper finally spoke up, giving her a shy smile.
"I am so sorry for bumping into you, darlin'." he drawled out quietly in his Texan accent. "I wasn't watching where I was going."
"It's okay." she said. "It was my fault as well for not looking." Her voice. It was so soft and alluring; he could listen to it twenty-four-seven.
"I'm Jasper Hale." he introduced, lifting her hand up to her lips, placing a chaste kiss on her knuckles. She blushed at the gesture. Hand still raised to his lips, he subtly smelt her and smelt her scent that calmed his thirst.
"Annabella Swan." she said, reluctantly pulling her hand away from his. "Call me Anna."
"Well Anna," he smiled, "nice to meet you."
"Thank you."
"Anna!"
"Jasper." The two turned to the people that called for them; Alice called for Jasper and Anna's sister went up to her.
"Anna, are you okay?" Anna's sister -Bella- asked her concerned. "I saw what happened."
"Jasper." Alice said quietly, coming to his side. "Come, Rosalie doesn't like this, and everyone is staring."
"But Alice," Jasper whispered, "you don't understand. She's the one."
"What?" Alice flicked her eyes over to Anna who was getting a lecture from Bella. A smile crept onto her face, seeing something from the future. "Okay, I'll wait for you at the table."
"Come on," Bella was saying, "let's sit down. We're already being stared at a lot."
"Okay, just wait. I'll be at the table." Anna turned back to Jasper when Bella walked away. They gave each other sheepish smiles. "Siblings, huh."
"Yeah." he chuckled. "Um. . .I was wondering. . .if. . .you wanted to. . .hang out sometime?" My God, he thought, I've never felt this nervous ever since I became the most feared creature that walked the Earth. He heard Edward chuckle from the table, making him send the bird through his mind.
"Really? That soon?" Anna teased. Jasper gave her a smirk.
"If you don't mind, unless you can't keep up." he teased back.
"Challenge accepted."
"It's a challenge?" he raised an eyebrow in surprise.
"You made it a challenge when you said what you said before." she stated. She noticed people were still watching the two and her sister was staring at the two curiously. "I'll see you later. My sister's getting impatient."
"My siblings are getting impatient as well." Jasper noticed Rosalie scowling at him, evidentially telling him to hurry it up. "Does Friday work? After school?"
"Sure." Anna smiled. "It's a date."
"That soon?" Jasper couldn't help but tease. In response she blushed while looking away from him. He couldn't help but laugh at the sight of her being cute. "Don't worry, it's a date." he assured her. Grabbing her hand again, he placed a chaste kiss to her knuckles before reluctantly walking away from her.
