A/N: Watched Ricki and The Flash and it's quite good. Seeing Sebastian getting married was quite weird (my poor heart!) and his wife just looked weird as well. Like, she has that bitch please look? I dunno, my mind is messed up.
Anyway, here's the one-shot!
The Musician Friend
They thought it was just going to be their mother Linda (Ricki) coming back home to see them after many years. They were surprised when someone was tagged along with her.
"Who's this?" Pete asked Ricki, watching as the young woman grabbed out a guitar case and suitcase.
"Oh, Roxy?" Ricki smiled at the woman. "She's my friend. Kind of like a daughter. She's kind of under my wing after losing her parents. We're both into music - I kind of mentor her."
"So she's a rockstar. Like you."
"Cool, right?"
"So you replaced Julie with her."
"What? No!"
"Hello! Pete, right?" Roxy approached them, giving the man a smile. "It's lovely to meet you. I'm Roxanne, but you can just call me Roxy."
"Likewise." He shook her hand quickly. "Um, come in, please."

"Here we go." Joshua sighed, standing up to meet his mother.
"Joshy. . ." Ricki smiled at the sight of one of her sons, bringing him into a hug.
"Mum," he hugged her, hiding his distaste, "nice to see you too."
They all sat down, only one chair being empty. "Oh, are we expecting someone else?" Joshua's girlfriend, Emily, asked them all. Joshua and Adam looked to each other confused while the others merely nodded.
"Roxy is coming a bit late." Ricki told them. "She's been out the whole day exploring the town - must have gotten sidetracked when she went to the music shop -"
"Oh, she's a rockstar like you? Wonderful." Adam said sarcastically.
"Shut up, Adam." Julie snapped. "Don't talk about her like that."
"She's just one of Mum's old friends -"
"Sorry I'm late!" Roxy quickly sat down, giving a sheepish smile. "I got a bit sidetracked at the music shops. They have really good music." Ricki sent them a smug look.
"Told ya."
"Uh. . .hi." The other three blinked at the sight of the girl around their age. They expected one of their mother's old friends, but were surprised when it was someone their age. Her straight black hair with red streaks was out freely, her black long sleeved shirt hugging her body lightly with ripped skinny jeans followed by some Converse shoes. Her face was free from makeup except for some black eyeliner and red lipstick, her skin pale and flawless. She held a gentle look to her face, something a rockstar wouldn't really have. She was beautiful, and Joshua noticed.
"Hi, I'm Roxanne. You can just call me Roxy." she introduced herself. "It's lovely to meet Ricki's family."
"You. . .too." Adam mumbled.
"Sorry, who are you?" Emily asked suspiciously. Joshua sent his girlfriend a look to tell her to behave.
"Um, I'm a friend of your mother's. Kind of like a second mother to me." Roxy shrugged nonchalantly. "She's kind of my mentor when it comes to music, and we live in the same apartment. She invited me to come and meet you all."
"You don't say." Adam mused.
"Got a problem with it?" Julie grumbled.
"I'm just saying, she hasn't really been a Mum to us and then there's her, taking care of some girl -"
"Roxanne is my best friend's daughter." Ricki told them sharply. "And my best friend died two years ago from breast cancer. Roxy has no one left so I took her in and helped her with her music path."
The table went silent. "I'm sorry about your mother." Joshua told Roxy sincerely. "Mum did a good thing taking you in."
"Thanks." Roxy smiled shyly at him. "But just because I hang out with your Mum, doesn't mean I have replaced you all. She still loves you all despite the circumstances."
"Roxy is pretty cool as well." Julie spoke up. "When I hang out with her I'm able to forget about my problems in life. She's cool."
"See? Aren't we getting along well?" Ricki grinned. Pete agreed with her happily, while the other three watched them. Emily stared at them with jealousy, Adam with reluctance, and Joshua with fondness. Despite the fact that she was a rockstar, she was different. She was gentle, kind, and smart. During the dinner he asked her questions about herself. What does she do? Any accomplishments? Does she like reading books?
Roxy liked reading, music was her life, she worked at the same grocery store as their mother, and she has graduated from university in the music area at quite a young age - a prodigy, you could say. She was talented, smart, carefree and genuinely nice. He never expected that from anyone. Even his girlfriend was a bit selfish and stuck up at times.
"You're engaged?" Ricki asked him and Emily. Roxy gave them a small smile, congratulating them. They tried to explain their reason why they didn't tell her, making them look like fools, really.
"It was beyond gay." Julie stated. Roxy frowned at Joshua and Emily, knowing why they didn't tell Ricki. For some reason Joshua felt ashamed when he saw Roxy's look.
