A/N: AU where they have a countdown on their arm for when they're going to meet their soulmate.
Soulmate
Today was just not his day.
First, he woke up late. Second, he got a headache. Third, the train he usually went on was gone from the station already leaving him to try and get a taxi in the busy streets. Fourth, he didn't have any coffee in his system so was still a bit sleepy and quite grouchy. Fifth, he just so happened to spill his coffee on a random stranger. But not just any stranger. His soulmate.
Walking out of the coffee shop in a rush, he wasn't aware of the person that was heading straight towards him, thus making him bump into the person and spill the coffee everywhere. Reid cursed under his breath, grabbing the empty coffee cup.
"Sorry," he snapped, grabbing it off the ground with a huff. "Watch where you're going while you're at it."
"You shouldn't be talking." the person snapped back, making him find out the person he bumped into was a female. "I saw last minute that you were busy staring at the ground."
"Whatever." Looking up from the ground, he felt himself freeze when he caught sight of her bare arm.

"Um. . ." he pointed shakily to her arm. "You might want to. . ."
"Oh my God!" she gasped, staring down at her arm in disbelief. "I-I. . ." She looked to his arm. "Wow. . ."
Reid looked at his own bare arm, almost having a heart attack at what he saw.
0:00
"Wow indeed." he laughed weakly. He gasped when he realised what he had just said to her. "Oh my God! I'm so sorry for the way I acted before! I'm just having a really bad start to the day - well, not now since I found my soulmate, but you know -"
"It's fine, really." she laughed. She held her hand out to him. "I'm Emily Matthews." Reid shook her hand without feeling grossed out.
"Spencer Reid. Doctor Spencer Reid. I work for the FBI."
"Wow, impressive." Reid blushed at her compliment.
"Oh, thanks - oh no!" Reid's eyes widened in horror when he caught the time. "I'm really late now -"
"Oh! Sorry!" Emily rushed, sending him a guilty smile. "I didn't mean to hold you back -"
"No-no, it's okay." he assured her. "I'm glad this happened. I finally found you after all this time." He gave her a sincere smile. "I really don't mind."
"Well, I do. You're going to lose your job if you continue talking to me, Doctor Reid." she told him lightly. "Here." she handed him a small business card for a daycare centre. "I work there. Call me when you have time, okay?"
"Definitely." Reid took it eagerly. "I guess I'll see you soon?"
"Of course! I just found my soulmate. I ain't leaving you soon."

"Kid, you are thirty minutes late!" Morgan said in surprise. "What took you so long?"
The team all sat at the round table, waiting for an answer. You could say they were a bit curious, and disappointed for his tardiness. Reid cringed at the situation, quickly sitting beside his friend.
"Sorry, rough day. I woke up late, got a headache, missed my train, I haven't had coffee - but on the bright side, I found my soulmate, so -"
"WHAT!" Garcia screeched, stopping his rambles. "You found your soulmate!"
"Yep!" Reid showed his arm proudly that no longer held the timer. "I found her."
"Congrats!" they all congratulated him. Reid smiled at them bashfully.
"Thanks. So uh, what's the case?"

Entering the daycare, he was a bit wary standing around many toddlers. He was used to hanging around Henry and Jack, but that was it. Seeing many hyper kids that have played in the dirt and are probably full of germs. . .
All thoughts of germs disappeared when he caught sight of his soulmate playing with the kids, her laughter ringing in the room. She was sitting in a circle with a small group, reading a story to them. She had laughed when the kids started to act like monkeys like in the book she was reading. It was the most beautiful sight he had ever laid his eyes upon (apart from when he first saw her last week, only just coming back from a case). He was torn out of his thoughts when a little girl's voice rang out.
"Miss Matthews! What happened to your timer?" The little girl pointed to Emily's bare arm.
Emily smiled instantly, staring down at it fondly. "It's gone because I found my soulmate." The little kids gasped much to his amusement. They started asking her questions instantly.
"What does he look like?"
"Is he handsome?"
"Is he Prince Charming?"
"Where is he?"
"Do we get to meet him?"
"Do we know him?"
"Is he here?"
"Now, now," Reid spoke up, scaring the group including his soulmate, "don't overwhelm my soulmate." The kids gasped in excitement at what he said. They suddenly looked up to him as if he was a God. They must really respect her, he thought.
"Spencer!" Emily sat up, quickly going over to him and bringing him into a hug he gladly returned. "When did you get back from your case?"
"Just now, really." he admitted, pulling away from her. "I wanted to see you, so I came here."
"You must be tired, though."
"It's okay. I'm just glad I get to see you."
"Come sit with us." Emily encouraged. "We're having story time."
"I saw." He turned to the curious children. "Very good monkey impressions you all did." They beamed at his compliment.
"I like him." a little girl whispered loudly to Emily. The two adults laughed at her comment.
For the rest of the day Reid hung out with the kids and Emily, finding himself having fun around the toddlers and his soulmate. He never felt that much fun until then. If anything, it made him want to have children of his own.
Spotting his longing look when they said their goodbyes to the children, Emily smiled softly, grabbing his hand in hers. "We'll have a mini us in the future." she assured him, much to his embarrassment and excitement. "Don't worry, we'll have the family we always wanted."
"Thank you." Reid told her quietly, squeezing her hand gently in gratitude. "I'm glad to have you as my soulmate."
"And I you."
