A/N: Gonna pull a Magneto-family-death, but with my own plot. Oops, spoiler. . .

His Mission - Part II
He looked around the small apartment, already suspicious about it all. He expected the place to be rundown, yes, but he didn't expect to see. . .toys.
Holding the journal that he recently found, he used his other hand to lift up a bunny doll. Looking at it curiously, he almost didn't sense the other person in the room. Turning around slowly, he saw just the man he wanted to see.
Bucky stood there silently, glaring at the doll in Steve's hand. Steve slowly placed the doll in the counter, noticing his childhood friend watching his every move.
"Do you know me?" Steve asked him quietly. Bucky stayed silent for a couple more minutes.
"You're Steve." he said eventually. "I read about you in a museum."
"I know you're nervous," Steve started, putting the journal on the counter, "and you have plenty of reason to be. But you're lying."
"I wasn't in Vienna. I don't do that anymore. I got -" Bucky quickly cut himself off, making Steve curious. "I got other things on my mind."
"Well, the people who think you did are coming here now. And they're not planning on taking you alive." Steve said, approaching him slowly.
"That's smart. Good strategy." Bucky noted, thinking of his girls. Guilt ate at him momentarily for even thinking about leaving the world; leaving them alone.
Heavy footsteps could be heard coming, making the two tense. Sam Wilson's voice came through Steve's earpiece. "They're on the roof. I'm compromised."
"This doesn't have to end in a fight, Buck." Steve told him. Bucky ignored him, taking his
gloves off. Revealing his metal arm.
"It always end in a fight." Bucky murmured.
"You pulled me from the river." Steve said sternly, and quite loudly. "Why?"
"I don't know."
"Yes, you do." Before they could say anymore on the subject, a light grenade crashed through the window. Chaos started. And while making his leave from the place he momentarily called home, he made sure to bring the bunny with him.

"Stand down, now." Rhodey said sternly, his weapons aimed at them. Bucky looked around, seeing he was surrounded, and there was no possible way for him to escape and get to his girls.
"Congratulations, Cap." Rhodey said sarcastically. "You're a criminal." While arresting them, the man in black took off his mask, revealing T'Challa. "Your Highness." Rhodey greeted politely. Before anything else could happen, a young voice rang out.

"Papa!"

"Grace?" Bucky realised, lifting his head up from the ground. He started struggling in their hold, desperately trying to reach his daughter. "Grace, stay away!"
"Papa!" Grace revealed herself from behind a pillar, running towards him, Emilia following close behind.
"Grace, no!" Emilia got to her in time and wrapped her arms around the eight-year-old.
"Papa!" Grace called out desperately. "Papa! Let him go!"
"Get the two." Rhodey said through his shock. "G-Get them."
"No!" Bucky yelled, struggling more in their grasp. "Stay away from them! Emilia, run away! Now!"
"Don't let them escape!" one of the officers called out in German. Ignoring the officers, Emilia tried to take her and Grace away to no vail with Grace struggling in her grasp.
"Grace!" Emilia pleaded. "Please, we need to go!"
"Papa!" Grace called out in agony. "Let Papa go! Papa! Give me back my Papa!" Emotions going haywire, objects around them started floating around. The men started yelling in fear, aiming their guns at the two. Bucky saw red when he saw them do that.
Breaking out of the handcuffs, he punched the nearest man, throwing him away. Steve, Sam, Rhodey, and T'Challa didn't know what to do. The latter knew eventually, and went after Bucky. Which then made Steve go after T'Challa. Even though he didn't know who the little girl and woman were, he had an inkling on how much they meant to Bucky.
"Papa!" Grace was still crying out, unaware of her powers acting up. "Papa, I want to go home!"
"Grace, Grace!" Emilia pleaded, kneeling in front of her. "Calm down, please! Control your powers, please!"
Cars started flying around, as well as some of the mens' weapons. It was too chaotic for everyone, that as soon as Rhodey released a sound wave in the perimeter, a man also accidentally pulled his trigger which went directly to Grace and Emilia. It went through Emilia first, before going into the little girl afterwards. Their voices were cut off from the shot, as well as every other voice. The last thing to echo in the area was Emilia's cry of pain and surprise, the sound of their bodies falling followed closely.

And then silence.

"NOOO!" Bucky screamed, his voice ripping through his throat painfully. "NO!"
Running towards their bodies, no one stopped him from getting to them. Sliding to them, he lifted them into his arms, seeing they were unconscious. Or possibly dead.
Blood oozed from their abdomen, scaring Bucky. "Emilia?" he rasped out hoarsely. "Emilia? Oh, Grace. . .not my little baby." Bucky whimpered, burying his face in his daughter's brown hair. "Wake up, Grace. Emilia, wake up! Please, not my babies, not my babies. . ." Bucky looked up at the sky, releasing a guttural scream. "IS THIS WHAT I GET!" he yelled up at the sky. "IS THIS WHAT YOU WANT? TO SEE ME IN MORE PAIN? TO WITNESS MY CONSEQUENCES ON LEAVING HYDRA? AFTER WHAT THEY DONE TO US?" Bucky yelled out in anger and pain, holding his girls close to him, rocking them. "Please," he sobbed, "wake up. Please, my loves, wake up. . ."
"Bucky. . ." Steve said sadly, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Bucky, we got to go. . ."
"No," he shook his head, shaking Steve's hand off him, "I am not leaving them. Over my dead body."
"They need medical help." Steve told him. "If they're gonna live, they need the help as soon as possible. They will get the help needed. Right?" Steve glared at Rhodey and the officers. They all nodded quickly.
"Medical help is on the way." Rhodey assured him. "They're coming with us to Berlin."
"Come on," Steve whispered to the distraught assassin, medical assistance coming their way, "help is here. Let them do their work."
Bucky said nothing, staring blankly at the girls in his arms, shaking. When medical help came, Bucky refused their help and placed them on their stretchers by himself, watching them leave with his girls, their blood coated on him. Still, he said nothing - he didn't even react when people came to him and arrested him again, being gentle this time. He just stared into the distance, blank-faced and traumatised.
