"You're not a freak, Sherlock"
He watched the other kids play together on the playground, his expression of longing; wanting to join them and play. But no, they didn't like him. They thought he was a freak because of how smart he was and the fact he knows what you did the day before or basically your whole life.

It was weird for a ten-year-old to know.

He sat on the bench alone, when suddenly a little girl sat beside him. He tensed when her arm brushed against his. He stayed quiet, in hopes that he wouldn't scare her away.
   The girl stared at the kids he was looking at earlier, head tilted to the side, lips pursed. He wondered what was going through her mind - and why she looked familiar.
   "They're not nice people." she finally spoke up after minutes of silence between the two. He looked at her confused. She nodded to the kids. "I saw them bullying you earlier during class time."
   He looked away embarrassed. "It's nothing." he mumbled.
   "I don't like bullying." she frowned. "It's just kids hiding their true feelings and thoughts."
   "You're the new kid, aren't you?" He remembered her now; she was the new kid in his class. "Stella Samuels."
   "That's me." she grinned at him. "I never got your name."
   "Sherlock Holmes." They shook hands.
   "Don't bother trying to befriend those kids." she told him. "You have me now." He smiled genuinely at her.
   "Thanks." he told her. She smiled back at him.
   "You're welcome."

"Freak!" Sebastian Wilkes yelled. His friends shoved Sherlock out of their way. "Out of my way!"
   "Hey!" Stella came out of nowhere, defending her best friend since they were ten. "Back off! Or else I'll hurt you!"
   "Stella. . ." Sherlock murmured, trying to pull her away. "It doesn't matter. . ."
   "It does!" she glared at Sebastian. "I don't like my close friends and family being hurt."
   "Aw, you have to get rescued by your girlfriend." one of Sebastian's friends cooed. Laughter came from around them; from the watchers as well as Sebastian's group. "Come on, Stella, you can do better than him."
   "He is way better than all you lot combined." Stella lifted her chin up bravely.
   "He's a freak, that's what he is." Sebastian scoffed.

PUNCH!

"Ow!" Sebastian wailed, hands covering his broken nose. "She just punched me!"
   "And I'll do worse if you come near us again." Stella said threateningly. Sebastian and his group ran away, the watchers dispersing as well. It was just Sherlock and Stella in the hallway of their university.
   "Stella. . ." Sherlock sighed, grabbing his books that fell out of his hands. "You don't have to defend me every time someone picks on me."
   "Well I want to." she shrugged, helping him with his books. "You're my best friend." Sherlock gave her a small smile.
   "Thanks." Sherlock told her sincerely. She gave him a grin.
   "You're welcome." Her face then turned serious. "You're not a freak, Sherlock." she told him seriously. "Don't let people get to you like that."
   "But it's true -" Sherlock muttered, only to grunt in pain when she punched him on the arm.
   "No it is not." she said sternly. "You are unique. You're not a freak."
   "If only people saw it like that." Sherlock sighed.
   "And they will." she told him. "I just know it. If you use your awesome skills for good, they'll know how much of a brilliant man you are."

"Brilliant!" John Watson exclaimed. Sherlock turned to him in disbelief.
   "You really think that?" Sherlock wondered.
   "Of course." John nodded. "Your deductions are very accurate and just amazing."
   Sherlock grinned at the compliment, his mind flying back to his young days. ". . .If you use your awesome skills for good, they'll know how much of a brilliant man you are." she had said.
   But it was a shame she wasn't here to see it. She died at a young age from a terrorist.
   They were out shopping during their university years when they were trapped in one of the shops by the terrorists. They started shooting at random people, one of them being Stella.
